Would this be the first time in history that the coach is a legit "stan" of a player on his own team? Reddick is a well known Lebron stan/Lebron GOAT guy, it's just hilarious to think about him coaching a 40 year old Lebron :lol

I don't think you've ever met guys named Doug Collins or Mike Brown lol.

It honestly feels like kind of a weird hire, given the situation theyre in with Lebron and AD in win now mode and Redick having no experience. And especially with Lebron being older than Redick. I think the thing that has usually chapped Lebron about his coaches throughout his career is he's basically never had a coach who at that time could match his own credentials. He never had a coach who had already proven he could succeed without riding Lebron's coattails. That's why he had interest earlier in his career in coaches like Calipari or Pat Riley, and recently in Dan Hurley. I think Lebron historically kinda resented the idea that some nobody was gonna come in and make a career off Lebron's dominance.
I also personally dont think Redick is ready to coach a team. I think he'd benefit from some assistant experience. I remember when Kerr was broadcasting before getting a head job without experience, I felt very confident Kerr would succeed as coach because it was clear he really, really knew what he was talking about. Redick I think has potential, but I dont think he's at the level of 'basketball explainer' that Kerr was on when he took the Warriors job. I think JJ may need a little seasoning to get to that level, absorbing first hand some ideas and attributes from guys who've already been doing it.
That said... the Lakers may simply like his asking price. They have a well known reputation for "lowballing" coaches (I actually think other teams generally overpay for what coaches are worth and the Lakers are doing it right). I could see them presenting him as a guy they really like, when really it's more about him being a guy who will take what theyre offering.
