Being Lebrons designated scapegoat is actually the worst job in professional sports.

Being an NBA coach with a shitty front office is a terrible gig except for one fact. You're going to get fired and get paid for multiple years of doing nothing.

JJ seems like an extremely smart guy but is he a leader and specifically within that enough of a leader to have a stronger personality than LeBron himself? My guess is no but I'm not willing to write it off yet.

No coaching experience to the biggest job in basketball.

LeGM strikes again.

Why haven't all these "great" coaches lebron "scapegoated" gone on to be successful anywhere else in the NBA?

Walton.... trash
Vogel.... trash
that dude from overseas with his eyes too close together.....trash
darvin ham.....trash

seems like everyone who gets fired was fired for a reason. just admit you hate the man

all the actual good coaches got to stay. Spols..lue...mike brown....

If JJ is as good as we all suspect. he has nothing to worry about. Now if he is really steve nash masquerading as a legitimate head coach. he will get exposed as a fraud.

Who knows? He's a 1st time nba coach but will have staff that is experienced and a guy many of you have been claiming player coached his teams for some time now. I think he'll be OK, I mean shit the bar is low, 8th seed is all he has to beat to be "better" than the last coach.....

I hate this move... if Lebron's not feelin it. If he is feeling it then I absolutely love this move.

It's called being an INDEPENDENT THINKER.

Give it a try some time, LeHater sheep.

In all honestly tho it always surprises me when guys who have prime time broadcasting gigs wanna go into or go back into coaching.

I guess the money is a lot better in coaching these days. But the quality of life seems like itd just be much better in broadcasting than on the coaching grind.

Somebody tell Bran that the coach can't space the floor haha.

I honestly wonder if Bron is moving on, if they are gonna blow it up. Otherwise, this hire makes no sense. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe JJ is good. I haven't extensively listened to his podcast, etc, but I never thought he was a great announcer. I'd kill to have some of the guys who are 'great coaches' doing color commentary.

The reason this is sketchy for me is it seemed like they wanted Hurley and he seemed to admit he had a price, but they didn't pay it. Hurley is a biiig swing and a miss. To follow that up with JJ is surprising. Seems like they are throwing in the towel.

ESPN listed all of the guys who got a job with no experience and it was Doc, Jason Kidd, Larry Bird, and Mark Jackson. It's like hmm one of these guys isn't like the others?

I'd definitely say that JJ has been on a path of trying to become a coach, but he must have some deep connections. It's that Dookie at work again. Watch, andscape or whatever is not gonna touch this. Crazy!

I mean, good luck to him. Haha. Even if I find it suspect, I hope I'm wrong, but yikes. This was obviously 'coming,' for awhile, but I dunno.

I hate the comparisons to Kerr and Spoelstra. It's not like those guys came to their head coaching jobs with no experience. Kerr was previously a GM at Phoenix and so obviously has experience in roster building. Spoelstra was a video guy and was mentored by Riley. JJ literally has an empty resume.

Yeah this feels more like a Derek Fisher to the Knicks type situation.

Im not sold on it personally but best of luck to him.

Seems like he'd respect the players opinions more than Ham did who continually trotted out terrible lineups and left players clueless as to what they were supposed to be doing on the floor. (To the point they were outright mentioning it in media interviews.)

No one thinks Lakers are winning the championship next season anyway, right? He might be the guy you want once LeBron is gone. A couple years coaching experience with some good players won't hurt.

Lakers gonna Lake. I like Reddick, obviously knows the game, but dude has absolutely zero experience. Hope I get proven wrong.
