Asking for a max deal @age 40
Hiring his podcast buddy with no coaching experience
Drafting his son who was riding the pine on a non- tournament team averaging less than 5ppg
How does any of this garbage help the franchise moving forward?
The only difference is Chalmers doesn't buy the excuses and explanations like Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka do.

Lakers are probably making a ton of money off of him. If he's going to line their pockets and have no shot at a championship they have to give him some perks.

The Lakers are better off with Lebron than without him.
Hiring his podcast buddy with no coaching experience
After seeing the way it played out with Ham, this was the best solution to a really bad coaching situation. If Lebron is in alignment with the coach the rest of the team will follow his lead. AD is not going to step out and crap all over Reddick to the media like he did to Ham.

Who cares? It was a second round pick. That is not going to set the franchise back as far as the damage the Lacob kid could do after his dad hired him to run the whole damn organization.

The lakers are lebron's employer. Lebron's looking out for himself and his family, as he should be.
Is it the best news if your a lakers fan like me? No. Can't be upset at em though

This. Lakers aren't winning but they are making A TON OF MONEY from having Lebron there. He's still the biggest draw in the NBA.
Is he supposed to last for another five years in the league? By then, he's already pretty much a dinosaur kong.

LeBron might not take the max:
"LeBron taking a pay cut that would give the Lakers access to the full MLE would ALSO allow them to:
* Take back more money than they send out in a trade
*Receive a player via sign and trade
And more, as @KeithSmithNBA 's handy cap penalties chart shows:

No one they get for the MLE will make them a champion and James has stated that he is not playing for lessees than the max anymore. He will play a season or two with the Lakers going that in that time his son develops into a player that belongs on the court and them he will be done.

A storied franchise being run by a high school graduate who can longer win a championship. Sad.
Now he's saying he might take a pay cut if the team can land either one of three guys in klay, harden or valanciunas. If not, then he goes all-in for the max. :oldlol:

I think I want them to get Harden. I would enjoy watching that combination fail.

That's pretty much it isn't it, I would loathe this if I was a lakers fan.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get anymore embarrassing to be a laker fan, they draft letinys kid (could have just signed him off season no one else wanted the scrub)
Hire JJ as coach… mind boggling.. why
Team is already full of old washed losers and they want Hardon or klay?:lol
Full blown wwe at this point.

Harden would be a fantastic third option for them. I dislike the guy because his playstyle is indescribably dishonest and I love watching him lose but he's still a definite positive on the court. Klay Thompson is running at about even but that's only because he still gets hot and single handedly wins games but he'll also cost them multiple games in the process.

Harden James are both guys that haven't played with the ball all game long in years. I'm not sure Lebron James has ever played with a ball dominating point guard. At the least one of them is going to be asked to play a role he isn't used to and they both may be required to adjust.
But is Harden even interested in the Lakers? Seems like he and the Clippers already had some kind of understanding.

the Bronny thing is ultimately irrelevant and the rest are good things

They aren't treating Bronny like a normal late 2nd rounder who has a 2 way contract that has an outside shoot ro make the league. He has a guaranteed contract and JJ was saying he was writing up plays for him. At the expense of working to find ways to make the Lakers successful. Also Bronnie's teammate was a starter and averaged 16 ppg and went undrafted without any safety net of making the team :facepalm

This is false. A roster spot is a chance to add a player that could help or a talented player that will beat fruit in the future. Lakers are hoping he's the latter but is obvious to everyone that he has not justified the risk.

How about the first round picks from the last few years that are already out of the league? What does Bronny averaging 5 points a game have to do with anything.

You could do that skit
Chalmers :hmm an Upgrade at Head coach over Steamed Hamm, like Hurley at Connecticut?
LeBron: Oh nooo. podcast buddy JJ Reddick very good 3 pt shooter when he played
Chalmers: And a better point guard like Chris Paul
LeBron:Well no... Bronny James nice kid alots of upside.
Chalmers: Your son.. that averaged 4.8 at USC. Well will you take on a more affordable contract to add Harden or Klay
LeBron: oh noo Max contract, remember our bubble ring.
Chalmers: hmm, max contract that expires when you're 42. Well LeBron you are an odd fellow but I gotta admit you sell alot of jerseys.
