WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is expected to discuss the future of his re-election campaign with family at Camp David on Sunday, following a nationally televised debate Thursday that left many fellow Democrats worried about his ability to beat former President Donald Trump in November, according to five people familiar with the matter.
Biden’s trip was planned before Thursday’s debate. He and first lady Jill Biden are scheduled to join their children and grandchildren there late Saturday.

I'm guessing this is why they had the debate in June, to replace him with that other psychopath Newsom with a few extra months to con the voters into voting for him instead of Trump.

Did hear yesterday that after August 7th, the candidate can't be changed unless there's a death, illness but can't recall the 3rd stipulation.

the dems are screwed regardless. biden shit the bed for november and it's too late to introduce a replacement candidate unless it's someone like an oprah, michelle obama or even hillary. a gavin newsome or gretchen whitmer isn't going to work. nobody knows those figures outside of their respective states.

I don't see how anyone with maybe the exception being Michelle Obama beats Trump. So bring on any one of these slimeball Dems. Trump will knock them down. The people have awoken.

Trump lost the popular vote twice and his ceiling in both races was only 46%.

Biden will still beat Trump because it's never ever been about Biden.
It's always been about Trump.
Biden voters would vote for Bidens dead corpse over Trump.
Trump is literally the only person on the planet that Biden could beat. Literally anyone else wins in a landslide.

Biden is embarrassing himself so much at this point I think Trump's got it in the bag. Dems have no one to blame but themselves.

I used to think Trump had it for sure, but idk any more. The polls are starting to lean Biden and I'm not sure the debate did much. I think he already had the reputation of a dementia ridden old man. And midterm went heavy left despite polls showing right.
I mean I wouldn't be surprised if Trump won at all, but I dont think it's a given

You must work for the Biden administration. It's so weird to see you say the debate didn't do much when literally every LIBERAL news outlet is saying that it was terrible and that they should seriously consider replacing him. It's not Fox, it's CNN and MSNBC saying this.
But here you are trying to paint a rosy picture.....

I'm not trying to paint a rosy picture, Biden is a bad candidate. He's old and losing it.
I'm just saying the reality is that no one has ever been high on him. Ever. He was labeled dementia ridden last election.
Its always been about Trump.

Well Trump doesn't need the popular vote to win, remember. And the polls have been off about Trump both times he ran.

Trump received the most votes any Republican has ever received in a Presidential election in 2020. So it's not about Trump. The people want Trump. So it's not about Trump. It's about losing power and having Trump call you out on it. There is shame and embarrassment that is still going on from losing to Trump in 2016. You may think it's about Trump, but it's not about Trump the man, it's about the embarrassment of losing to him and losing that power. Democrats would have pulled the same shenanigans with ballot harvesting in 2020 had it been any other Republican candidate.
Trump disrupted the status quo. It has always been about that.

Well the Dems could really try to defeat the Republican party pretty much permanently if they wanted to. If they run on a platform of social democracy and actually deliver, they wouldn't lose at all. Look what happened when FDR gave people just a taste of social democracy, he literally couldn't be beaten. But the Dems would rather Trump win than give people anything resembling "communism". So even if Biden drops out we'll get some other neoliberal hack like Buttigieg or Kamala.

It will be so nice 5 or so years from now when this era of politics is finally done and forgotten and we can all go back to not caring.
Or maybe social media has made that impossible now.
It's simply too late for him to drop out.
Says who? He's basically Grandpa Simpson without any of Grampa's likeability, if the Dems were serious about winning they'd force him out.

I used to think like this, but I now realize it came from a position of privilege. Not caring is what people who don't blatantly feel the affects of the government's catastrophic decisions can afford to do. But outside of January 6, Trump was a pretty standard republican President, so while he undoubtedly says a lot of horrible things out loud, I think the handwringing about his actual policies being stuff the Republican party hasn't always been about is silly. Republicans have been moving in this direction for decades and priming for this moment, Trump or not. Remember what Dick Cheney was like? As for the Dems, they are better domestically, but not nearly as much as they'd like us to believe. They mostly give us crumbs, which is technically better, but it's still dogshit and generally goes away once the parties switch occupancy of the White House. And foreign policy wise they're largely identical. It's weird to think people in other countries lives are worth any less than ours, and Biden and other Dems slaughter those people just as bad as Republicans do.

I don't believe in politicians, so if it was up to me they'd all **** off. However, if you're forcing me to pick someone to be President, Rashida Tlaib would be my top choice due to the Islamophobia she faces from both sides. AOC would win imo and she has similar politics, but Tlaib has more integrity and I trust her more. The DNC would never let either of them near the nomination though, so of the realistic options, I don't want any of them. Best I could hope for is that whoever replaces Biden at least cares enough about optics to stop Netanyahu.

Dude if the voting was based on the popular vote , trump would of lost 2016 as well as 2020.
The debate was based on Trumps 60+ lies he stated.

I think Trump should be the odds on favorite, especially after Biden's shitshow of a debate but it will be close, the country seems to be split down the middle, gonna depend on the ground game. High turnout gives Dems the edge but I don't see a high turnout in this election cycle, both candidates suck, but Trump's base is still largely there.

Dems only turn out big when they're trying to vote the GOP out. When the incumbent is a Democrat, they dont. Even Obama, who's like a God to them for some reason, got 5 million less votes the second time around.

I agree that Obama largely didn't deliver on his lofty promises, turned out to be run of the mill corporate Democrat but he's popular with Dems which also leaves me scratching my head. Same thing with Republicans and Reagan, he instituted the neo liberalism policies that have wrecked havoc among the middle and working classes. The rich have become filthy rich while everyone else got a lot poorer, and the Democrats haven't done a damn thing to change that.
It's not hard to explain why Obama and Reagan have rabid fanbases. Charisma. They both had tons of it. Same reason Trump is popular. You can blatantly lie to your constituents over and over again if you've got charisma. Biden does not have charisma, and that's a problem for him.
