Does he make either of them contenders? Lauri fits GSW's motion offense perfectly and they haven't had a scorer like that to support Curry since KD. 24.5 ppg on 63.6% TS in Utah with a +9.9 on/off net rating. His game is essentially all off-ball, like a big-ass seven-foot Klay that is a monster cutter, slasher, and lob threat.

I honestly think there's a chance GSW would be contenders again, even if they lose Kuminga. If there's one thing we know about The Warriors is that they don't need a lot of talent to compete. They've routinely shown they play greater than the sum of their parts, like in 2022 or 2015 and 2016.

As for San Antonio? That's more of an unknown. But if Wemby takes an exponential leap and Chris Paul has a resurgent season? And Castle exceeds expectations? Who knows...

He could be worthy for the dubs considering they don't have someone in their roster as tall as him rn. Small-ball won't work as it did before anymore for this aging team, esp. with the inevitable breakup of their core.

If the Spurs could sign him outright I could see it making sense, and then they continue building from there. But giving up picks and trade assets when theyre still gonna need time to fill out their depth seems counter productive. Yama is 20, Chris Paul is 39. I dont think this is the time to go all in, personally. Keep building. See if you can get another high pick next year.

For the Warriors, do they have the assets to pry Lauri from Ainge's grip? It could make them interesting, but for how long? Steph, Dray, Wiggins arent playin much longer.

Id like to see him on Milwaukee, Indiana, Minnesota... teams with stars closer to their prime.

Chris Paul joining San Antonio is his first step towards coaching, Pop should be a great guy to learn the craft from. He can't play a consistent role and stay healthy and he's too smart to truly believe he's leading them to a championship.

If they get Markannen a decent lead guard and some 3 & D roleplayers with an mvp season from Wembanyama gets them into the playoffs and they'll be one of the teams that gets an upset over the Celtics in the regular season but inexperience is going to stop them from winning the West. Trading for Markannen would be big because it means they would stop tanking. Long term they would be scary because they would dominate the paint offensively and on the boards while on the other end Wembanyama is so quick long and athletic that you won't be able to take advantage of any switches properly because he's always there to support teammates. There really is no one like him, Chet Holmgren is good but not even close to his defensive impact.

I think the fit is best with Warriors, but I'd like to see him with Spurs, so I can tune in to watch Spurs more often.

Lauri is going to be a killer with either team, but you might fear he'll be standing in a lot of the same spots as Wemby.

I think for his career, it's probably best to go to Warriors.

I think Warriors are contenders with Lauri though, but only if Draymond stops wasting time with podcasts and TV shows and actually tries to play basketball.

The Spurs need to dramatically improve their outside shooting. LM would be a great fit for that reason alone.

Whether or not that helps them become a contender depends on what else they do this offseason. If they stand pat with LM and CP3 and their draft picks I don’t think that gets them close to .500 but that’s about it IMO

Are the Warriors out with the Anderson signing?

Would be weird having Markannen, Wiggins, Draymond, Kuminga, & Anderson all on the same team. How would Anderson even get minutes? :lol

Not gonna be easy doing business with Ainge. He for sure is gonna want Kuminga in the deal and some draft picks knowing him. :lol

The Spurs needs to show patience to start this Wemby era. This move seems extremely desperate and going for a win now a couple years too early.

They will likely have two lottery picks this year in a loaded draft. Perhaps another is Chicago finishes 11th or worst.

That will be the foundation of their core, use the assets they have accumulated after that to acquire good players to fill out the roster. Or sign them outright in free agency.

They still need one more year of tanking.

Coach pop will have to retire for this to happen. He's very loyal but he's just simply too old now for his job.

I'm fine with Kuminga leaving. The problem is that there's rumours he wants JK, Podz, Moody and 3 FRPs.. for an expiring of a team that is in desperate need to tank.

Ainge is a clown. He's the type of guy that wants a super deal for every single transfer he attempts. Zero chance the Celtics are champions this year because he would have asked for 3 FRPs for Porzingis to join Boston or something insane.

The Celtics traded Marcus Smart, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala and a 35th pick to get Porzingis, 2023 25th pick and a first round pick from the Warriors. So, actually, Stevens pulled some Ainge shit. The lesson of the '24 championship Celtics is that when it comes to trades be greedy and ridiculous.

They only have 2 firsts. Ainge wants bridges type deal or he signs lauri to extension

That's it? :facepalm Disgusting behaivor. I just think Stevens is far more willing to pull the trigger, but that's a fair point.

Rumors are Warriors are looking for a 3rd party to make the deal happen right now. The question does he just want picks or actual talent? Because JK for example is a surplus at this point unless Wiggins gets traded instead and he plays the 3, the 4 spot is going to be very loaded if Lauri joins. If JK is involved, I hope he counts for two FRPs minimum of that haul, and they're looking to get another FRP through a deal.
