"Babysitting clauses." (https://share.newsbreak.com/7nqhx9va)

I have no idea how valid Denver's concerns would be. I don't follow that team, to me Murray is the guy that hits big shots and should be an allstar but can't stay healthy. So maybe Denver thinks he wouldn't get hurt as much of he was working harder? I don't know but he's going to play in the Olympics with his injury history without the security that a 200 million dollar contract would provide. And he's not supermax eligible. So that says to me that these issues are serious. If Sam Antonio gets serious about making a playoff run in 2026, Wemby with a clutch guard that can average 25 is a nice foundation.

if he makes all-nba next year he will be supermax eligible

Not underreported at all. He's just betting on himself to make all nba which he certainly is capable of.

He could destroy his knee tomorrow and he's still getting whatever the max a team can sign him for is. He has a lot of money to gain and nothing to lose

Politically this puts pressure on the media to crown him when he's never even made the all-star cut.

But top six/seven in guards...

Brunson, Morant, Harden, Curry, Lillard, DOncic, Kyrie, SGA, Mitchell, Fox, Ant, Halliburton, Maxey, and Booker.

He's going up against guys who are fighting for MVP's and heavy volume shooters who are going to be the focus of their teams.

If he destroyed his knee Denver would be stupid to give him the max. Last time he tore his ACL it ended one season caused him to completely miss the season after and then he was load managed on return. Basically lost him for two seasons. The max contract is only going to be for four years and they've already let a few players go so it's not like they don't care about the money. That's two seasons of Jokic's prime where instead of competing to win a championship they are just trying to make it out of the first round. They would be crazy not to find a replacement if they already know he's hurt. No one tears ACL twice and is just fine.

I don't know what stipulations are in the contract he was offered but depending on what they aretaking them out could make a large difference.

They got rid of positions and the media would have to decide he's a top 15 player to make one of the three teams. And he had to play 65 games. It's not a particularly good bet for him at all.

Under this extreme scenario of a torn knee or Achilles tomorrow they have to still sign him for the max. Stupid as it may be they can't let him walk for nothing and leave Jokic with an average team.

They already have 140 million on the books next off season, unless Aaron Gordon opts out which is likely will to get himself more money from Denver (his cap number would go up in the scenario, it's only around 25 currently for the 2025 season)

In conclusion, sign him for what his max is or let him walk and get a mid level exception player to replace him. Good luck with that. You're not getting anything of much value in a sign and trade.

The MPJ contract has really strapped them for the future.

They aren't putting 10 guards on the list...we could end up 5 guards if Zion and Wemby have great seasons. This could be a poison pill for the Nuggets. And also with George and Klay leaving california Curry and Harden might shoot for 30 PPG seasons. I don't know who told Murray this was a good idea Nuggets fans should be very worried.

That's a interesting tidbit about Murray's extension offer. It's surprising he hasn't signed it yet, especially considering his injury history. The 'babysitting clauses' must be a major sticking point. If Denver's concerns are legit, it could impact his trade value. A healthy Murray alongside Wemby would be a formidable duo, but it's hard to rely on him staying on the court. San Antonio might be wise to keep an eye on this situation.

No they don't. As a general rule no business should do something knowing it's a stupid thing to do. If Murray gets a severe injury and he's not signed they treat his deal like expiring money and/or a potential asset for someone else that actually is "stupid" and trade for a star. Throw in future firsts if you have to but don't waste Jokic's prime. How many guys can you nane that came back and played like stars after 2 ACL injuries? Because I can't think of any. I could tell you about guys like Tony Allen, Jabari Parker and Leon Powe that would have been much better players if they had not been hurt though.
