Not saying he is, but he definitely pushes a lot of white player stanning.

He said he favorite player is Larry Bird, he thinks the 86 celtics are the best team of all time, he thinks Sue Bird is the GOAT of WNBA (what's with the Birds?).

He was also asked who his favorite player that he played with on the US select team - and he said Brandin Podziemski (white guy).

Kid is doing an awful lot of modern day "signaling" about his preference for white basketball players. He even committed to Duke...

This is a bigger reach than the finale of Space Jam.

Im actually impressed he knew about the '86 Celtics. They are not my GOAT team, but #2 on my list.

He's a New England Celtics fan from Maine. His father probably raised him on Bird videos. Racism is still out there but be careful about that kind of accusation.

Disappointed in the Kawhi answer.

It wouldn't surprise me honestly.

Gen Z is pretty racist, they've grown up with all the racism that millennials like us have been posting online.

Maybe Coop has been reading the stuff we've been posting here for the last 10 years? :applause:

Why are blacks allowed to have black role models but whites aren’t allowed to have white role models? Personally I don’t care about race but I’m sick of all this policing of how people want to see themselves.

The fact there is any media attention at all in who a 17 year old kid thinks are the best players ever is honestly sad. Who the **** cares what he thinks??

He's a random kid who happens to be tall and good at basketball. He's not any kind of authority on NBA history. His opinion is COMPLETELY meaningless.

Sports media have jumped the shark.

This is what happens when you try to debate 3 ball. It changes you.

Black kid has black idols: "Representation is important. Kids need role models to emulate who look like them!"

White kid has white idols: "Is he racist?"

The racist thing here is your framing.

Idk if it’s as deep as the role model aspect, but it’s perfectly normal for people to root for their race. Particularly if that race isn’t usually the main character in a particular sport.

Blacks, whites, Latinos, and Asians are generally going to pull for their kind in boxing. Many blacks favorites quarterbacks are going to be Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and previously Michael Vick. Whites were generally going to favor Peyton Manning and Brady. Not across the board of course but more often than not.

There’s nothing wrong with it and it’s not racism to feel solidarity with and pull for your own kind in athletics.

In real life sure. Not in sports.

It’s kind of fun in sports honestly. As long as respect is maintained that is.
