The US president, 81, was speaking at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) convention in Nevada, where he was expected to announce a new five per cent cap on rental increases nationwide – but instead stated he would be capping rent rises to $55.
Gripping the sides of his stand, he leaned forward, squinting before almost whispering: “I’m about to announce that they can’t raise it more than… $55.”

Aside from the embarrassing old man gaff, 5% is still too high. They shouldn't be allowed to raise it more than the inflation rate which has been around 3% forever now. I suppose it's a start though given that they were raising rents insanely higher than 5%. Flat out gouging people.

If they raise taxes, utilities, fees more than 5% a year, then you should be allowed to raise rents more than 5%
