I would like to see this game happen. (https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2024/07/celtics-world-champs-not-yet-according-to-one-coach.html)

And with the successes of international players and the challenges Team USA has faced in the 21st century it would be fair to make the NBA champ play the Euroleague Champ for the World Champ title. I don't think it will happen any time soon but what basketball fan wouldn't want to watch this?

If Adam Silver can get an in season tournament going, I think this is something he'd look into making a reality. Could make it a 3 game series or something. Just have to wonder how series the NBA guys would take it.

If it was in the preseason it would be a joke to them but you put money and the title "World Champions" on the line and they will take it seriously. Especially if it is getting built up all season.

I don't think they'd take it all that seriously either way. There is too much to lose.

euroleague has high skill players but they are undersized compared to nba players

celtics have size and skill euroleague would get mucked

could put white at pointguard and jrue defends like he's 6'6 - that would be hell for their guards

The last thing Adam Silver would want is for tatum to go out there and get his ass kicked by the euroleague champs. IT would kill all credibility of the nba being the best league. He would NEVER let this happen. Would hurt the brand too much if the NBA champs lost. Its simply not worth the risk.

as a fan would it be great? but this is a business 1st. The reward is being branded, what most ppl already consider the NBA..... "the best league in the world"

It's too bad that Embiid and the Sixers could never be the representative, isn't it?

This.

It would kinda ruin a team's "championship summer" vibe if they go out and lose a game like that right after being crowned NBA champs.

And if you place it at the end of summer just before the start of next season, like a preseason game, it will feel like an exhibition and no one will care.

So it's hard to see how a serious, meaningful game of this type ever gets played.
