That was the first loss and it continued in 2004 when Lebron/Wade/Duncan were blown away by 20 points to Carlos Arroyo's Puerto Rico, and then it happened in 2006 with Lebron again.. Kobe initiated a great resurgence in 2008, which lasted until shortly after he retired, at which point we've lost a bunch again in 2019 or 2022 or last year in FIBA.. And this year will be the crown jewel - it will prove once-and-for-all that "bron-ball" (high-scoring ball-dominance) mostly loses regardless of cast - losing with Curry and KD as teammates will confirm this.. Carry on tho

Funny thing about that to me was a topic a while back when people were telling me Andre Miller and Reggie were both better for winning than Allen Iverson was and using the 2004 Olympics as an example of him not winning even with talent.
Of course not realizing the first time NBA players lost a game the ending was literally Andre Miller passing the ball to Reggie, who didn’t come open off of screen so he couldn’t do anything and passing it back to Andre for a forced shot that missed. Rarely does a comeback present itself so beautifully.
They literally got us our first pro loss. We talked about it on here at the time.
It had been coming though. The 2000 team beat Lithuania by a single missed buzzer beater then lost to them in 04. That whole run was ridiculous.

Yawn rookie Lebron and Melo barely even got any PT in 2004. Wade got to play a bit with the 7th most minutes. But you probably meant Duncan/Iverson/Marburys 04 team. And the biggest problem with that team was it was likely one of the youngest rosters ever, as well as having amongst the weakest all nba representation. When we send the whole 1st and 2nd all nba team we smoke the competition. When we don't, we don't. Simple as that.

OP with another Lebron compliment.
Guy is 40 years and still the best player in the league according to OP.

2004 Iverson was 28 years old while Miller was 37 in 2002. How would you even justify comparing a guy in his prime/peak vs somebody at the end of his career?
