Exhibition games do not matter. We all know Olympic basketball is not NBA basketball. There is zero guarantee the US wins gold even if they are favorites.

It’s some weird things with the roster, the core of the roster is pretty old. There’s been some disappointment so far. But you can also tell they’re not fully engaged and locked in from the get-go and all game in some of these exhibitions. Also, Steve Kerr had some odd substitution patterns where he literally subs out entire lineups in waves. And there’s something odd going on with Joel Embiid and Devin Booker. Who mind you have been two of the worst players for team USA so far this year. And Joel Embiid to be frank doesn’t even belong on an American roster. But I guarantee something was worked out with Joel Embiid where he was guaranteed a starting spot in order to join the team. Because his play certainly hasn’t deserved it and they continue to start him. Anthony Davis has so clearly been the superior player and better fit for the modern game and in international ball. Particularly defensively. Same goes for Devin Booker, Ant-man already out played him head to head in the playoffs two months ago, and is clearly his superior on the floor yet Book is starting. Probably due to the fact that Devin Booker is a Nike sponsored athlete and Nike is the primary sponsor of the team, and Anthony Edwards is with Adidas. And basically the only guy from the competitive brand on the roster besides Embiid with his whack ass Sketchers. But yeah, Anthony Edwards is just as good or better of a scorer and shooter as Devin Booker and a way better athlete and defender and they don’t consistently have him as a starter. Steve tried to bring him off the bench with a D rate American talent roster and was forced to make him a starter when he was so clearly far and away our best player

So long as they have Davis and Adebayo they should be fine. The guards and wings are interchangeable.

It would be a huge surprise if they didn't.

For me, it isn't so much that other teams can't put up an almost equally competitive starting 5, but that the depth just isn't there.

Not only is the depth not there to compete with the US, but most teams are just not that deep in general, particularly on the wings and guard positions.

I do like teams like Australia, Canada and Germany. If either of Lebron/Curry/AD has to sit, they might have a chance.

The talent gap between the US and any other team is bigger than the talent gap between the 2024 Celtics and the Pistons.. It would be like a 1 seed losing to a 16 seed in the NCAA tournament, which is always a shock

The fact that our talent advantage could easily lose confirms an inferior brand of ball and chemistry - USA basketball has the worst brand of ball and chemistry in the world (drive-and-kick spammers), so our favored talent is in danger due to this gutter brand of ball.. America-ball

Canada is actually crazy talented for a non USA team. Of the 12 people who got minutes yesterday only 2 of them aren’t in the NBA and almost all of those 10 are either stars or get regular minutes at least.

Shai will be the best player on the court when the play the US, and Murray is always liable to go off in a big game. The role players are then strong defensively.

That’ll be a very tough game.

We’ll have the advantage there for sure but Canada with Shai, Dort, and Brooks are very strong defensively on the perimeter.

If Murray has one of those takeover type games then it could go either way.
