Embiid playing for US is bush league

Just can't get over that the US needed to recruit a foreign player when they already had AD and Bam. It's just wrong.

USA basketball is dying.. This is what it looks like... This is how it feels... We have all these great players and massive talent edge, yet it feels empty and like we are vulnerable.. The fact that we no longer have the best players in the world is part of it (the top 5 NBA players are all from other countries) but the other part is that we've been breeding drive-and-kick spammers for the last 15 years, so our quality of team basketball is far inferior to other countries - we don't have the best brand of ball anymore, OR the best talent.. it will only get worse unless Silver gets rid of the hands-off, defensive 3 beginner format that produces this weak brand of ball, weaker hoops instinct and inferior skillsets.

I kind of understand this thread if Embiid was lighting it up, but he's been one of the worst players on the squad. He was the only US player with a negative +/- against Serbia with a -8. Hopefully he can turn it around.

The decision likely came down to the reality that he may never win an NBA championship.

He never won in college. Sure, he's won a state championship in HS, but not the national HS championship. With his knees, who knows if this would be his last chance at making a US Olympic team. He wouldn't have won gold with Cameroon.

He made the decision based on the likelihood that this would be his only chance to actually win the ultimate prize for once in his life. I don't blame him.
