I guess it was the right call because Team USA stomped without him.
But damn. Pretty interesting juxtaposition between being the highest paid player in history and not cracking the rotation on your own national team.

And just winning the NBA title a month ago. Interesting optics...I'm guessing if KD didn't come out like NBA Jam on fire mode he may have gotten some floor time.

Dude's probably having one of the greatest summers of all time. NBA champion, 300 million dollar extension, and on the Olympic team possibly cruising to a gold medal. He'll play against South Sudan. It was just a better matchup with big men against Serbia, which left Tatum as the odd man out with LeBron and Durant in the lineup.

I would be too. I took the summer off to represent my country and can't get in a game for 1 minute.

Boston has 2 guys that they've had to overpay due to circumstance. Possibly on another team neither Tatum nor Brown qualify for the supermax and we wouldn't be having this conversation about their impact and value all the time.
Brown would be seen as a Julius Randle (who's never made the max, has higher career averages and is more decorated from an awards standing), and Tatum likely a Mitchell (who puts up nice stats but didn't qualify for supermax and didn't make the Olympic team).

Been getting carried his whole career. Imagine thinking he's a top 5 player/a real superstar when he can't even get minutes in the Olympics in a blowout lmao.

He's probably top 10 but the difference between MVP and #10 is quite a lot. It almost always is on a yearly basis.

Tatum may be highest paid and face of Boston, but Boston won the chip because of Brown.
Kerr had to deal with one hero baller and it took 3 years to convert Curry to a team player.
Now you know the rest of the story.

True dat, this actually is much better to watch than the 92 team blowing out everyone by 50. I've watched a few 92 Dream Team games the last few weeks, that should be considered R rated content at this point.

He's definitely shown that he is. Not consistently enough unfortunately.
