Jordan in 1992 with 15 ppg / 2 rebounds / 4 assists on 45% and against one of the worst international competitions (8 total NBA players played against) in NBA history (everything before 2000).

It's pretty insane to see how most of the players are shooting 55 FG% or better. :lol

LePlaymaker finding his teammates easy buckets.

Also doing this at near age 40, being the best player amongst the best of American players.

LeBRon age 40 is more valuable to his team than the 1st team all-nba small forward (3ball's new favorite chucker) that just helped win his team the championship.

Tatum had nothing on Bron in practice and Kerr saw Bron was superior to Tatum and why Tatum can't even get playing time.

Team USA has faced mostly cans throughout the Olympics. Brazil... South Sudan... I mean embarrassing competition.

The only somewhat legit team they faced was Serbia. Because of Jokic. And Durant dominated the 1st matchup, while Curry dominated the 2nd.

It's like Kobe in 2008. Lebron dominated vs the scrubs and then Kobe saved their ass in the Gold Medal game vs Spain.

The "cans" in 2024 have 61 NBA players.

The "competition" in 1992 had a total of 8.

The 1992 team is nothing more than just NBA and Nike marketing.

That's why they're underachieving by having ten top 20 players get dominated by teams with one top 20 player.. It's called "bron-ball" and it underachieves favored talent, such as losing with preseason favorites, homecourt advantage, or "dream teams" (04', 06')

Bro South Sudan is a joke team. They didn't even make the knockout tournament. They have no great NBA players whatsoever. Same thing with Brazil. Who the **** is Brazils best player? It was a joke. And those were the teams LeBron dominated along Puerto Rico.

The only team USA faced that has star NBA talent is Serbia who has one star NBA player... Jokic. And Bogs whose basically an NBA role player. So 2 NBA players vs like 10 NBA superstars.

But they still needed Curry to pull off a miracle to save them.

That's due to scouting, but there were just as many NBA-caliber players back then as now - most of them didn't make it over to the US and it took 5+ years to get the best guys like Sabonis and Kukoc over here...

And most of the 61 guys that you cited had cups of team in the NBA - 3-day NBA careers and crap like that - 3 days in the NBA isn't better than a decorated international veteran with a bunch of international titles.. Oscar Schmidt for example would destroy pretty much anyone in today's game.

They beat Canada & Germany without Durant & the USA wasn't even trying.

This kind of "life-or-death" effort was needed to beat Serbia:

Jokic would cook the '92 Dream team if his guards show up like they did yesterday vs USA.

Germany best player is an NBA role player... Dennis shroeder. USA has a MASSIVE talent advantage over them. Canada actually has a lot of talent but Murray and Brooks shit the bed and they have no size inside. SGA was basically carrying them vs 10 NBA superstars.

The competition is a joke. Team USA has an astronomical advantage in talent. The Gold Medal game is going to be unwatchable.

Canada has a legit NBA team out there that would make the playoffs in the NBA, they didn't even win a medal in these games.

The competition today is stacked.

It was a joke in 1992.

Canada and the US have perfectly demonstrated how the NBA format, chemistry and brand of ball is the worst in the world - Canada was beaten easily by international comp, while the NBA Dream Team is getting dominated and down 17 points to every team, despite having ten of the top 20 players in the world - they're barely squeaking it out despite massive talent edge, which confirms a bad brand of ball.

MJ shot 45% in the Olympics against bums. Disgraceful.

It was a joke in both eras.

10 NBA superstars vs teams with 1 NBA superstar at best. But mostly not even that ie Brazil, Germany etc. The talent gāp was enormous in both eras.

The Dream team never came close to losing though. It took a miracle for this squad to eek out a victory over a team they had 10x more talent than. That's pathetic.

Lebron has caused the US to play a bad brand of ball that is barely winning with massive talent advantage, while averaging 5 turnovers, so his numbers mean nothing.. Anyone can dominate the ball to get layups and high efficiency at the expense of chemistry, effective basketball, and guaranteed winning.

When you consider defense, turnovers and the fact that MJ's numbers came with great chemistry and winning basketball, his numbers are far superior than Lebron's.

Of course none of this matters because the 92' gold medal run was 50-point blowouts in every game, so no one's stats mattered or reflected anything about their game.. It's absurd and desperate to think otherwise.. Nonetheless, Jordan was still the best player on the 92' team by virtue of being the only scorer-playmaker on the team, while being the best defender (4.0 SPG and the intensity leader).

Big FAX

If 2016 wasn't the final nail in the coffin then this Olympics run surely is.

RIP Jordan. Now you're pushed aside battling it out with Kareem and Russel for Top 3.
