Put your money on Most Improved Player, MVP votes, Defensive Player of the Year.

My guess is something like 25-10-5-4.

You heard it here first.

FIBA is the test for NBA players. Ant went to FIBA and did well, had a breakout season. Tatum went to FIBA and did well, won a ring.

Wemby wants it. The tears prove it.

I wasn't sure, but I thought he wanted it, because he can pass the ball. If you want it, you pass the ball. If you love basketball you pass the ball. Dumb selfish players don't want it, they don't pass the ball.

Yeah, Wemby is going to have a breakout season, you heard it here first.

If he stays healthy and puts on the proper amount of muscle that allows him to be a stronger force down-low without sacrificing too much mobility, he might end up as the best player ever.

Lot of if's in that statement, which means it's a jerkoff, but it's on the table. He's got the talent, physical tools, feel for the game and intelligence.

Too many ifs, but he has the potential to be special yes. I have upgraded him above a better Kristaps Porzingis now. Currently, I see him with Hakeem potential.

This is such a controversial hot take, OP! It's inconceivable that the guy people have extremely high expectations of has a better season than his rookie season.

Less 3s, more midrange and short hooks and he will be unstoppable offensively

He’s always gonna be dumb on defense, so that’s an easy call, but I wanna write the same shit again.

For somebody as mobile and big as him, you have to start thinking about where he gets the ball. It’s science. Just like they say the base / side lines are defenders, with his ability to cover ground and even step back, you want him as free as possible. You also want spacing, so putting him right above fr line, he is hard to help on, there is a cutting and multiple driving lanes. Bread and butter. He barely got any touches there. Maybe he is uncomfortable there, but nobody can tell me that’s not his spot (plz post reasoning.)

Just like MJ used the triangle to dominate bball, wemby has the same potential. He has potential for a whole offense to be made around his unique abilities. I will be shocked if they don’t figure this out soon and continue to just give him freelance iso touches.

All this is true, but there could be a possible issue.

the finite height of the rim - it's fixed at 10 feet.. That means that some players can be suboptimal for a great team offense.. too big, or not shaped correctly... wemby is right on the line - a bigger Kareem - could be perfect... or it could be like a fly hitting a window over and over, aka not possible to have a great team offense around him

he does need to completely forget about threes unless they're wide open.. otherwise, he needs to master 2-pointers - a combination of Duncan/Kareem and then Dirk's mid-range.. he needs ot be a 7'5" expert jumpshooter on 2's and hook-shot guy..

I said he was overrated, which he probably is since he's projected by everyone as GOAT

And I said he was overrated long before he played an NBA game (october of 2022)

nice try tho

Wemby has surprisingly mediocre touch. At his height n a floater or hook is there for the taking a lot of the time, but at least when I've watched him he hasn't been too fluid down there.

I think that, additional strength n and health are the only things that might limit him from putting up the craziest stats since Wilt.

Retarded take from a retard.

He has never had any chance at being GOAT and still don't. He isn't a basketball savant like Luka/Magic/Bird and he doesn't have the mad athleticism of Wilt/Lebron/MJ.

He is tall and mobile and skilled for his height. He is like Porzingis but with more potential due to not being a black hole.

I really don’t buy the too tall theory. He has great passing angles. If he was holding the ball above the rim level, I could see, but beyond that, he has good arc.

Another thing like I told ISB, he doesn’t need strength as much as you think because the ‘action’ is taking place above where people can move him. He just leans into tips off fts like he did in olympics. I know people want him to be doing monster dunks all the time, but like I said he is sleek enough and just the force of his body moving is enough to get there. And a lot of times even if people bump him, he’s still got so much length he can just lean into it.

We shall see what happens.

In a lot of ways I think Wemby grew up in the wrong era. He is the GOAT who could have been.

What I mean by that is all the perimeter stuff, the side step or step back 3s and iso handle is what he grew on watching and incorporating into his game from a young age.

If he was born 30 years earlier he would have been growing up watching Kareem and other players who performed in the post.

If he emulated the sky hook or some variation of it growing up he would have been an absolute GOAT contender with that kind of unblockable go to shot at 7'5 with his wingspan. His passing is already elite for a big so it would have been a crazy combination.

But he wants to shoot the fancy shots he grew up watching a concerning amount of time so we'll see if he ever grows out of that.
