Why do americans have a problem with Jokic enjoying himself?

It says something about americans and how simple they are. The american mind cannot fathom that europeans are so efficient that they can just **** around most of the time and still do better than americans.

Americans have what, 2 weeks vacations? Euros have like 4-5 and a bunch of other days off, yet are still much more productive.

There's this childish idea that an athlete is a roided bodybuilder who gets hairplugs and whatnot. The above is the ideal athlete body. You might not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

What has always confused me is the admiration people have for Jordan because all he cared about was winning basketball games. He would do anything and everything to get any advantage because he was obsessed with winning. He would even sucker punch his own teammates.

Yet many of those same people praise Jokic for being fat and out of shape and not caring about basketball with his greatest ambition breeding and riding horses.

I mean white and asian civilizations populations are cognitively far more intellectually competant. There's a reason a pudgy non athletic white guy is dominating the world at basketball. And it's not because he's outrunning and out jumping everybody. He's out thinking them.

There is such a thing of high & low basketball IQ, but you don't have to be super smart to master the game, you could do that with average intelligence. In the end it's a pretty simple sport. Alot of great passers who are seen as smart players like Magic, Bird, Jokic simply have more peripheral vision than most people.

Have you seen Jokic in interviews, dude is pretty simple, not to say he is dumb, but his intelligence doesn't really stand out. Magic is another guy who doesn't seem that smart when speaking.

Yeah, this is another funny example of cultural differences. Americans don't really seem to get that being a braggard is seen as highly negative in much of Europe, particularly eastern europe. The ideal is the simple man, a stoic man. Also, Jokic is funny and known to crack jokes, which is a sign of intelligence.

Ben Simmons had a 1.8 GPA in high school, Javelle McGee had a 4.5 GPA.

McGee was clowned to death his entire career for his dumb basketball decisions. Simmons was looked as a high IQ player because of his playmaking in his first few years.

Being intelligent doesn't automatically make you a smart player.

McGee was mostly awful because he was terribly uncoordinated. He was very goofy in terms of hand eye coordination. I don't think anybody doubts Jokic is a very intelligent person.

Intelligence is different things, such a thing as visual spatial, verbal, mathematical etc.

In basketball it strangely seems as if verbal intelligence has a high overlap with GOATs. For every mute or dumbass like Kawhi, Lebron and Duncan, you have MJ, Barkley, Shaq, Magic, Bird, Walton, Jokic, Kobe, West, Wilt etc.

It's difficult to ignore actually, that most of the great basketball players are notorious jokers and trash talkers. It fits with the idea of basketball requiring a kind of quick thinking intelligence, being able to act quickly on the information given. Like a good stand up comedian reading the room.

With that said, he's pretty charismatic, always has positive energy, & is a people person, which is a reason why I believe he has done so well for himself post-retirement

Yup. There are many different types of intelligence. Magic specialized in emotional and social IQ. Jokic feels like more of the straight forward logical patient stoic type.
