Olympics
92' Jordan....... 14.9 ppg... 1.3 tov... 4.1 steals... 4 to 1 assist-turnover ratio... 23 MPG
24' Lebron....... 14.2 ppg... 4.0 tov....1.3 steals... 2 to 1 assist-turnover ratio... 24 MPG
^^^ Compared to MJ, Lebron cost his team six possessions per 24 minutes by virtue of getting 3 more turnovers and 3 less steals per game, so MJ drastically outplayed Lebron.... :facepalm
The 92' team also out-assisted their opponents by 239 to 109 for the tournament, while the 24' team might've been out-assisted by opponents or certainly didn't have the massive gap that the 92' team had.. We'll find out soon when the numbers are updated on bballref... The 24' team getting less assists is a direct result of bron-ball (lebron hogging the assists via ball-domination).
Unlike the 24' team and their "down-hill" skillsets, the 92' team played 5-man basketball, which produced superior chemistry and brand of ball that matched their opponents.. Since their brand of ball was equal or better than opponents, their margin of victory matched their massive talent edge - the margin wasn't hindered by inferior brand of ball.

Wait, Jordan's TS was 49% against the worst competition of all time?
Meanwhile LeBrons was 71% against elite comp.
Thanks for shedding light on this OP! Jordan sucks
OP left out assists and efficiency.

OP left out assists and efficiency.
individual assists don't matter and are often a bad thing if they're above 8 or more, aka ball-domination kills ball movement and team assists.. this is bball 101
and Lebron cost his team six possessions per 24 minutes by virtue of getting 3 more turnovers and 3 less steals per game, so low volume shooting efficiency doesn't matter or offset 6 lost possessions
Of course Lebron also didn't "close" - Curry saved him just like Kyrie, Boobie or Ray Allen, while mj was always the closer for every team that he played on.. So there's no comparison.

LeBron 7 rebounds 9 assists on 66% from the floor against toughest international competition of all time.

MJ also lost to college kids despite having the Dream Team as his supporting cast. Business majors and rhodes scholars were too much for MJ :oldlol:

Jordan was the only scorer-passer on the team with 15 ppg and 5 apg - so you lied about the numbers
and lebron averaged 4 turnovers per 24 minutes against bums and only 1 steal, while also having a trashy 2-to-1 assist-turnover ratio against bum comp compared to NBA comp

1992 team faced 8 NBA players and Jordan played worst than LeBron did.
1992 was the biggest joke of the olympics in basketball history. Zero competition. Might as well send an NBA team vs a random high school team today and call it competition.

This is one of the only stains on Jordans career.
He played so far below the standard in the Olympics. While most everyone was enjoying a massive bump in offensive efficiency, Jordan seen a big decline from their NBA numbers.

not surprised at all.
effing AMATEUR 1984 MJ scored 20 Pts in 3 Quarters of GOLD medal Final and sat out 4th Quarter.
Compare that to LBJs 2024 Finals of 14 pts. PLUS getting humiliated, destroyed, dunked on by French Ben Wallace. :lol
LeBronzeBronze is a joke compared to MJ.

Jordan's off the ball kill game was off the charts and remained that way. 1984 or 1992.
not surprise by LBJ 4 TO per 24 mins. guy has always been garbage.
Meanwhile 1992 MJ made up for Slow, bad back, Bird with 4 SPG.
Jordan did not needed anyone to dominate a team. Neither did Magic. Bird was just too old.
Reason MJ played "game withint a game" to keep himself interested and motivated besides scoring 15 ppg.

Jordan had to fit in.. He knew that his team would barely win games if he dominated the ball so that he could get down-hill and high efficiency..
Jordan let the offense run through teammates and let them initiate possessions, but then bailed them out if needed - these are tougher shots that must be done quickly, which requires the best "bag".. Jordan was also the set-up guy (2nd on team in assists) and personally generated "defense-to-offense" buckets with 4 steals per game.
btw, 1 steal and 4 turnovers per 24 minutes (bron) is much worse than 4 steals and 45% shooting... everyone forgets that shooting efficiency falls under the umbrella of per possession efficiency.. Jordan's was always elite and Lebron's inferior.

This doesn't make any sense because he was taking the most shots at the worst efficiency, the absolute definition of being a bad teammate.

part of the reason that the 92' Dream Team or the 90's Bulls looked like they had such great chemistry is because they still looked great in the tough possessions by having a seamless closer like MJ to make even the very toughest possessions look mostly good.
that's the role that he played on every team and people don't realize that you can control games more by CLOSING the most possessions possible as opposed to initiating the most possessions (and then letting TEAMMATES bail you out).. So people just look at the game opposite of reality.. It's all about closing - this is true in life generally... So again (refer to previous post).
Nice excuses for MJ hogging all the shots despite being the worst player

It's bball 101... The goal is certainly an easy score if possible, but the reality is that tough possessions make up a big part of the total possessions, even for a team like the 16' Warriors... But when you have a guy like 96' MJ or 16' Curry, there's no such thing as a tough possession.
Most possessions were tough for MJ in the 92 Olympics, because he simply couldn't make a shot despite playing against tv repairmen and baggage claim attendants :(

45% isn't bad and this should make you re-think how important shooting efficiency is in certain situations, and compared to actual possessions lost like turnovers..
Lebron is the one that barely won by averaging 4 times the turnovers that Jordan did, while Jordan's 45% still achieved massive blowout - so maybe massive turnovers mean more than 45% shooting...
And Jeff Van Gundy famously said that Jordan's attraction of double-teams reduces a team's defensive rebounding capability - which makes obvious sense - so Jordan's misses yield offensive rebounds and 2nd possessions that drained defenses, thereby leaving them less capacity for offense.. Jordan's offensive onslaught reduced opponents, thereby lowering his own team's defensive requirements.. It's called winning the attrition battle - the best defense is a good offense - a tenet of all competition.
Otoh, lebron's turnovers kill his own team's momentum and lose entire possessions.. night and day from Jordan's onslaught winning the attrition battle.. Jordan was such a great scorer that his misses were infact good.

4 steals per game is actually crazy work in such short minutes. 2 steals per game across 40+ mpg is considered elite. MJ doubled that in almost half the time.
It reminds me of Kobe setting the defensive tone in the 2008 Olympics. It's incredibly honorable to be the best offensive player yet lead by example by playing the best defense on the team.

Jordan had the most FGA in the olympics at 14 attempts per game and got outplayed by Barkley that had 10 shot attempts per game.
Jordan doing what he only knows how to do, chucking up shots meanwhile averaging 4 rbs and 2 assists. This is against dog shit competition too and he chucked his way to 45% FG.
