Right now, I don't find it easy to believe USA will win the gold in 2028. The world has caught up, and the new generation of american stars are not as dedicated as the past ones, with all this money thrown at them, load management, etc. Unless in these four years some young amazing talent comes up to the league, I cannot see guys like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown or Anthony Edwards go undefeated against the loaded French team of 2028 and other international juggernauts. They will definitely slip in one game, at least. Just being realistic.

yep. legends like bron, kd and curry will all be retired by then. this new young generation reminds me of the 2004 USA team that failed to win gold: overpaid, low IQ AAU trash (iverson, melo, lebron, starbury etc)

on the plus side they wont have that cancer Embiid on the roster since he's committed to cameroon for 28.

In a 1 game elimination style tournament, especially with 3pt. variance game to game, it's just not actually noteworthy to say the USA isn't a shoe-in for Gold.

I mean Serbia had them beat until USA got a 6 point possession off a questionable foul call on Jokic.

Flagg will be coming off his first MVP season by then and will lead USA to another gold medal

You left out Tyler Herro...

But seriously, they still have many good options to choose from (age in 2028):

PG: Brunson 31, Smart 34
SG: Booker 31, Edwards 27
SF: Tatum 30, Barnes 27, Brown 31
PF: Holgrem 26, Banchero 26, Jackson 28
C: Embiid 34, Allen 30

This team would murk anyone in the field.
