There was a time that was among the most played out songs in the world. And it fit so nicely for basketball highlights. Felt like NBA tv had 12 different commercials where you’d hear it and something like this goes by

Back when they would try to be funny with it.

as popular as it was, I forgot it was actually made for space jam. It was a Jordan based song, which kind of explains why it was played on so many basketball clips.

I strongly suspect we will never hear it on mainstream media again after all the…unpleasantness(that the world already knew about and was willing to overlook at the time).

Minus all that I suspect some NBC producer would be putting something together to play during the return of NBA on NBC. A modern I believe I can fly compilation with the current young guys jumping out the gym? If possible ….leading into the Prudential halftime report?

Nostalgia on a [Kanye]hundred thousand trillion[Also cancelled].

I’ll have to settle for the nba on nba theme music and the altered schedule Silver announced to eliminate back to backs around national tv games to hopefully get the big game 90s feeling back. Maybe an nba/peacock double or triple header will actually have all the stars play like they used to.

Ill settle for that.

Jordan effectively retired almost 30 years ago and R Kelly's shit will never be payed again. Although if Ignition comes on I'm not gonna not sing. Sue me.

I wouldn’t expect Jordan clips on it. There is little to cover for him. They wore that shit out back in the day though. I’ve seen that song on Kobe, Vince Carter, and all kinds of compilations. I was just reminded of it earlier watching some old nba tv clips.

Nobody did cheesy sports commercials like 90s and early 2000s nba tv.

Yea I mean it's not necessary anymore. There are so many ways to consume sports content, particularly highlights, that everyone can find what suits them. I'm sure the cheesy shit is still there but it doesn't dominate the market like it used to.

Remix to ignition is one of the greatest songs of all time. Car packed full of drunk people and you play that and it's an instant party. No need to qualify your enjoyment

The oldest one I can remember was a Jordan and Dr. J one I believe I saw on CBS set to Whitney Houston‘s greatest love of all showing them making similar plays and I was blown away. I’m nearly dead inside when it comes to all sports highlights these days despite devoting thousands of hours to producing them.

I mean, he did some nasty stuff, but nothing that a ton of other rock stars haven't done with underage groupies.

It's not like he was a hardcore p*do like Michael Jackson.

If you can still play David Bowie, you can still play R.Kelly. Same thing, same age.

Yea I mean I understand separating the art from the artist and all that..but he's pretty nasty.

I have no intention of advocating for R. Kelly. Just as I have no intention of advocating for Karl Malone. But it’s not like Utah Jazz clips are banned in my house either. To me they are definitely pieces of shit but when you pick and choose which pieces of shit you are willing to ignore as you enjoy the art you make it clear It’s less about the transgression and more about public perception, and being associated with what people see as a defense or disregard for the crimes.

I just can’t logically support a ban of R. Kelly without throwing out a couple dozen other people. And people take that to mean don’t throw out R. Kelly. What it means is if you’re going to throw out R. Kelly, let’s get rid of Prince, Jerry Seinfeld David Bowie, Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, James Brown and on and on it goes.

i’m not saying to keep any of them. I’m saying if you care about the actions get rid of all of them not just the one people choose to acknowledge as the poster boy.

As a character I can’t recall said on the Sopranos….”Oj is no less a running back….”.

You want to disregard every child molester in history you have my complete and total endorsement(as a current presidential candidate who was known to walk into the dressing room and look at teenage girls changing in his beauty contest would say).

But let’s throw everyone into the same wood chipper. Not just the ones the public know about and associate with the crime. But the other people you know for a fact are guilty of it.

If you delete when a woman’s fed up from your radio station rotation then get human nature and PYT off the air as wel. Won’t see me complain. But till then…you’re just doing it for show.

Most of people's favorite artists or actors had to do evil things as part of the contract to make it where they're at. They are heavily abused and then turn into abusers by force. Or get whacked. That's how it goes.

Yea R Kelly will never be played again. But as kblaze said, it's weird that the same doesn't extend to plenty of other artists we know did pretty questionable shit. I guess the difference with the other cases is that the media did give them some positive coverage. With R Kelly recent trials etc. going on, the public pretty much made up their mind on him being the bad guy. Not wrong but I wonder how much of him being singled out is media bias.

He was unlucky to still be a star when #metoo happened and probably also because he was black and there hadn't been a big time black victim of #metoo.

I've never seen this gif. Amazing how Jordan is still so focused on swatting the ball.
