Advantages of today's era: 3-point attempts, live-dribble-iso-scoring aka "down-hill" ball-dominance, screen-roll basketball aka ball-dominant assists aka hogging the assists (lower team assists).

Advantages of prior eras: 2-point scoring ("pure" scoring), triple-threat & post bag/footwork, touch in-traffic/mid-range, passing (threading needles/no spacing), hoops instinct in traffic, 5-man basketball/team assists, toughness

non-basketball plays with many times the intent to injure the opponent is not toughness.
