They still won because there are many other ways to win a basketball game such as being better at basketball (2-pointers, 5-man basketball), defense and rebounding.
For example, if an NBA team from the 80's was playing a 3-point shooting, junior high team from today, the NBA team would easily win by just being taller, stronger, and simply better at chemistry and basketball than the weak junior highers.. This is exactly how the 90's would beat today's 3-point spammers.. The current USA team basically lost to South Sudan, while the 96' Dream Team looked like this
