Presumably, just for this dunk

he only played there for five seasons, and I would say he was a superstar for one and a half of them. But the nets don’t have much to celebrate. In the announcement I heard they only have five jerseys retired and without checking I’m going to assume they might be Doctor J, Kidd, Superjohn Williamson, Drazen and…..Michael Ray Richardson? Nah. They wouldn’t do that. Coleman and Anderson weren’t there long enough. Maybe I’m forgetting someone Doc played with in the ABA.

Ill look into it later.

I don't know if anyone in Brooklyn will care but they are at trying to get m give the fans something to cheer for. Like if the Pelicans retired Baron Davis.

What else have they got to do? Need something to somehow bring meaning and relevance to the franchise. They're nothing but east coast Clippers.

5 seasons with no ring and no MVP doesn't warrant grounds for a jersey retirement.

Different franchise have different standards. Nets haven't experienced success enough to unquestiomably say Carter isn't one of the greatest players they've ever had. I just doubt how much people in Brooklyn will care about stuff he did in Jersey.

His "f*ck you" 3pt game winner in the Toronto homecoming game was even more impressive than that dunk.

I've never seen Jason Kidd jump that high. He almost leapfrogged Carter.

I didn't expect him to get his jersey retired by the Nets, to be honest. I thought the Raptors would do it, and I think they will eventually do it. However, I don't think he had the type of career which deserved having his jersey retired by two teams, too many injuries while he was in those two teams, coming short in the play-offs, etc.

I suppose it depends on whether or not the Raptors can forgive the way he forced his trade. Quitting on them like that would have had me bitter if I was the team owner. But he did kind of sire the current generation of Canadian ballers. His example was an inspiration. Probably had something to do with Nash as well but he was never a raptor.

As a Raptor fan, the VC story was largely perpetrated by our GM at the time Rob Babcock. Vince was unhappy in Toronto but that's because our management ran him under the bus and shit on him to the media. The GM was just jealous of VC not unlike how Krause was jealous of Phil and the Bulls' stars. Considering his 22-year career, I really doubt VC had a poor work ethic.

Raptors should 100% retire his jersey. Nets I don't know but why not I guess. He's one of the best player ever to don their uniform even if for only a few seasons.
