Just one conference finalist in the top 10: Rudy Gobert. I'm not saying the stat is irrelevant, most of those guys are good players, but having a lot of players on it doesn't seem to predict playoff success here.

Yeah, most of the really good teams don't die when you go to the bench, so their starters get underrated by this stat.

Interesting to see Lillard so high when he was being scapegoated for a lot of the Bucks woes.
What website is that btw?

Also, I'm buying Spurs stock. No way they're going to be far below .500 if CP3 plays any significant amount of time. They suffered greatly from not having a backup point guard (which is why Jones +/- looks nuts).
I think Lillard's +/- is partially influenced by the quality of his backups. The backup PG minutes went to Pat Bev (out of the league), and Cam Payne (just signed a 1 year deal for a $ amount between the minimum and vet minimum). His on/off +/- was the 3rd highest of his career last year, slightly down from the year before. His pure +/- was the 2nd highest of his career last season.

Steph and Lebron dominated that stat for a decade and made the finals almost every single year. I wouldn't discount it.

Nuggets are kind of the exception. Their bench is absolute garbage.
But actually teams that have a lot of guys near the top generally do very well in the playoffs.

I'm not saying that a player being on the list means nothing but it has just as much to do with how good a player's back up is as the player is himself. Only one player in the top five of the list for last season is a top five player in real life. Tatum Doncic and Giannis are at the back end of the top 20. KCP is #2. Is he top 50?

It's more like KCP played almost all his minutes with Jokic, and sat when Jokic sat.
I would never say that this stat is an accurate measure of impact, but it is interesting imo.

While it's true that the stat is also majorly affected by who a guy plays with that fact only hurts the stat's importance. If a statistic is effected by who the guy is playing with, who comes into the game when the guy is off the floor and then who that replacement is playing with and against I'm not going to call it a reliable measure of anything (unless a Celtic is high on the list...if it had Derrick White at #1 I probably would be arguing for it).
