I called this dude a 7 foot Larry Bird in 2020 and I remember a lot of people laughed.

Bird was a combo forward. Most of us don't know his game that well (I was a young kid myself and didn't watch basketball in his heyday) but the highlights have him doing more moving around the court than Jokic does. The local analysts that watched these players say Jokic is more like healthy Bill Walton. I didn't watch Walton either of course but knowing his reputation of being a great passing big man the comparison makes sense though Walton was lighter.

Celtics are looking better in the first half today. Tatum had been without his jumper all summer but early on it looks like they've fixed his shooting. If I ever get out of the stone age I'll start recording and uploading video but there was one play where JB showed some strong ballhandling to get out a turnaround fade that off course he hit. No need for hero ball on this team but without Porzingis for the first two months of the season it would be good to get some AllNBA caliber basketball from those two. Everyone else looks about the same as they did last year.

Nuggets aren't playing anybody in the second half. Doesn't mean much but defensively the Celtics have Tatum at center defending Dario Saric. Saric has been attacking Tatum and so far been unsuccessful. I don't want to see a lot of Tatum at center in part because it probably means a lot of injuries but there might be 5 guys in the league he can't defend. Normally if you can you want to attack the star of the opposing team so Tatum being that versatile is an advantage.

Philly is not playing anyone but the Celtics still look good. Expect three big improvements from Jaylen Brown to be evident:

1. He's a better ballhandler.

2. He's a better passer.

3. He's stronger.

With the bump in reputation from winning he's going to be AllNBA second team or better. Tatum can't get all the credit and he's going to have an excellent year.
