Let's hope he keeps it up. I want to see Lopez/Turner numbers this season.

Nah son I aint buyin it.
Bam's a really nice player but hes not an outside shooter. I dont care what he makes in practice, I dont care what he makes in preseason. I dont care what a small sample size of the regular season says where he gets a few in a row to go in a given game and it sort of creates a statistical veneer that hides the fact Bam's jumper is ERRATIC. It always has been and probably always will be. Giannis made a few threes last year, and still the best way to beat Milwaukee is to let Giannis shoot threes.
Miami has tons of shooting 1-4 and one guy that can play the five. How are you improving your odds by taking your worst jump shooter and only center and having him take perimeter shots?
I dont see "more Bam threes" as a winning blueprint for Miami. Just no.

I think Bam's a better overall shooter than you're suggesting. He's a strong foul shooter and paint-extended/short mid-range shooter.
Last four seasons:
- 77.9% FT [5.6 attempts per game]
- 48.6% FG from 3-10 feet [34.5% of FGA]
- 44.5% FG from 10-16 feet [24.6% of FGA]
I think he can be a Brook Lopez/DeMarcus Cousins/Myles Turner threat from three. That's roughly speaking, 35-37% 3PT on 4-6 attempts per game or so.
Now, I agree that it might not necessarily make them a better team. It may just make his individual stats look better.
In theory, it would open up the paint which would benefit the entire team, particularly Jimmy who's a lethal slasher. Even Bam, who is a good ball handler and passer. Maybe it unlocks his face-up slashing game ala KAT/Lauri? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see.
Who knows. He may be ass. He may be Lopez/Cousins/Turner level - a spot-up/trailer/pick-and-pop threat. Or he could be even better and be used as a movement guy like KAT, Love, or Lauri. We'll never know unless he tries.

I think Jimmy Butler said he would be shooting them like 4 years ago. I think he was gonna pay him like 100 bucks every time he made one and expected to have a big bill end of the season then he didn’t do shit.

Yea... role players that shoot 3s and space the floor for stars are essential but you want your 1 and 2 option players playing to their strengths. Imagine if every shot Butler and Bam took was a 3. I guarantee their efficiency doing that would be less than shooting mid range jumpers and drawing fouls / getting FTs inside.

37.9% 3PT on 3.1 attempts per game over the last 19 games. About a quarter of the season. 40.9% 3PT on 3.1 attempts per game over the last 14 games. It seems to have unlocked his playmaking somewhat too.

95/259 over his last 100 games. So, 36.7% 3PT on 2.59 3pa/g. Last 20 games: 47.2% 3PT on 3.6 3pa/g. Worth mentioning that his numbers went up at the PF position:
PF (38 games): 42.5% 3PT on 3.2 3pa/g
C (40 games): 27.7% 3PT on 2.5 3pa/g
A great start, all things considered. I think he has the potential for 4-5+ 3pa/g.
