I'm thinking of something in the range of no more than a grand in startup money. What are some realistic small businesses you can start with such little capital?

You should put that money towards a treadmill. No one wants to do business with a fat.

I was thinking with that little capital, it would have to be something video or streaming related. I'd like to do some reaction videos, but everyone is doing that. Not sure how much money is in that to be honest.

I do both consulting and professional testimony... both pay very well with no overhead (just a home office).

Within my field I act as a resource on compliance (contract based), creating standard of care protocols for multi-location practices etc. Professional testimony -- I am hired in my professional capacity to make judgement if another colleague acted within or outside of their scope - both civil or criminal matters.

You shouldn't even be there considering you have anger issues.

Learn how to create chat bots for small businesses.
Get a decent pressure washer you can offer to clean houses, garages etc.
Get one of these and rent it out for parties every summer:

It depends on your skills. I know a graphic designer who side hustles for small businesses and creates logos and even helps with website design. AI imaging is slowly encroaching on his turf, but still plenty of boomers who are afraid of computers to draw business from and mostly gets work via word of mouth. Myself, I keep good relationships with previous employers and have gotten some consulting work after leaving. Not enough for that to be my main source of income, but whenever I do get consulting opportunities it’s a decent amount of money for very little work.

you should use linkedin and fb industry groups for your own work. fb industry groups are underrated, but they can lead to new significant connections in your industry and lead to new work that you otherwise would not have found through your regular lead channels.

Start an auction house.
All you need is a garage sale’s worth of shit, some marketing ability, an online domain and/or a space for a few hours.
