I only came in Here to ask if scorpions are even capable of biting a human. Last time I was in Arizona most of it outside Phoenix looked like coyote and road runner territory so I assume all of you people have scorpion experience.

My mom lived in Arizona as a kid.

Not just scorpions, but all kinds of spiders, lizards, even Gila Monsters inside the house.
Very common. Especially at night, during summer.

Grandfather (same 6’8” wingspan as me) lifted up a square tip shovel handle against the ceiling, and stabbed full strength straight downward with the corner of the square edge, thru the Gila monster nec/spine, and cracked deep into the laundry room tile below it, got its pus-blood all over some shoes, rugs, etc, as it writhed its last moments, jerking around, while he was holding it in place from the stab site, weighing down on the shovel. Surprisingly HEAVY & torsionally strong as a strong, small-medium herding dog, is what he said.

My mom (in 6th grade at the time) and both her little brother and sister were scared to get their shoes from the laundry room for weeks after that. Dad brought everyone’s shoes into the kitchen for them to put them on for around a month lol. On the believe that their bites were deadly. They are toxic, with many different toxic/poisonous compounds, in their venom, but rarely lethal. What is crazy about Gila monster bite though, is once they bite you CANNOT GET THEM OFF, they lock on like a damn pit bull. With the venom fangs that curve backwards so the more you pull, the deeper it digs in and rips your flesh.

Only 1 type of scorpion sting in Arizona is an actual medical issue.
The bark scorpion.
Rarely lethal, only in babies or the elderly.

All the real deadly scorpions are in megahot tropical areas, like northern Brazil, central africa, south India. Southeast Asia. Etc.

they blend in very well and they are most certainly in the city. people here will use UV flashlights to spot them easier.
