Beyond the fact that we're talking about a 26 year-old that was picked #1 in his draft class, we are talking about a career 11ppg, 4.6 apg player. He's not a three point threat at all, but damn...not even a back-up?

I admit I can't recall anything about his career beyond a certain trade that I enjoy reminiscing over way more than I should...but this just somehiow feels wrong. Like the analysis of guards has gone too far in favor of guys with range. Didn't he have some kind of talent why he was drafted #1? What happened?

I haven't followed his career closely, but I IIRC all started to go wrong for him in the summer league after the draft. He got injured there. The Sixers tried to rush him, and he was forced to change the way he shot the ball, free throws, etc. As a consequence, he wasn't as effective as before, and there was a big media show his rookie year about his "changed shot" topic and how inefficient it was. All this diminished his confidence, add some injuries that didn't allow him to stay consistently on the floor and I think you have got the answer why he didn't pan out that well. That's how I remember it, more information would be welcome.

Anyway, I am surprised he is a free-agent because when he played in Orlando he was really solid. I hope someone picks him up, I am rooting for him, I feel sad for him for the way things turned out.

He's a bonafide scrub. A nobody. A low end back up PG. Still worthy of scooping up after the good backups are taken but not worthy enough for his own thread.

He has near elite defense that alone should be enough reason for some team to pick him up on the minimum.

I would have him back in Philly but the roster is loaded with guards. I don't know if he could cope with it mentally either but he is super tight with Embiid.

One of the bigger busts for sure.

I don't see anything he does better than average.

Decent defender and can still drive and kick or finish, absolutely a non shooter but still blows my mind he didn't get a single offer. Loved him in orlando off the bench

Then youre blind. Hes extremely fast and strong, his driving, finishing at the rim and midrange game are elite, and hes an excellent passer and defender. The reason he can't get a spot is because hes a walking injury risk. Apart from the shoulder thing, hes had several serious knee injuries in the last couple of years that just doesn't give any team confidence that he'd be worth the money. Sad because hes a phenomenal talent and a joy to watch.
