You hear words like...the most prolific rebounder, surely must have pretty damn decent impact at least.

But an afterthought? How is this possible?

I really wouldn't consider LeBron an afterthought.

Big build up for just being decent.

unless of course jokic grabs 20 rebounds then all of a sudden it's an amazing and irreplaceable talent https://s3.amazonaws.com/pix.iemoji.com/images/emoji/apple/ios-12/256/sneezing-face.png

There was a guy named Kevin Porter(maybe Jrs dad…I never thought about it till now) who led the league in assists 4-5 times and had the highest assists per game ever till Isiah had one similar year and then Stockton topped them both long after.

I doubt more than 2 people here even know who that is.

Scoring is the only one dimensional thing you can be and make a real lasting name for yourself.

Maybe if you roll defense into one big thing but individual skills wise?

I think only scoring and shooting make you infamous if you don’t have a second aspect.

It’s entirely possible peak Danny Fortson would grab 15 a game if you ignored his weaknesses and let him play enough in this small ball league. I don’t think anyone would put a lot of thought into it if he did.

He is not the dad of KPJ, I assumed he was but it turns out they're not related.

Lol you didnt hear about that broadcasting controversy a couple years ago?

Porter Jr puts up a shot and the local announcer, just assuming KPJ was the former NBA player's son, says "doesnt hesitate to pull the trigger, just like his old man."

Turns out KPJ's actual dad is in prison for armed robbery, or homicide, or some kinda violent gun crime, and the oblivious announcer ended up having to publicly apologize and the whole bit.

LeSocialJustice was havin none of it of course and dropped a beautifully legendary tweet condemning the announcer's gaffe.

"Oh he thought this was cool huh!!?? Nah we ain’t going for this!" James tweeted after he reposted the video. "Sorry but this ain’t going to fly! How insensitive can you be to say something like this. Beat it man! I pray for you but there’s no place in our beautiful game for you!"

LeKing always speaking out about the thing's that matter :applause:

I missed that apparent controversy. I was just looking at some clips of the original Porter and people were laughing about him being quick to shoot. It’s a weird thing to even tie to him in the first place. He had a lot more games like this than games he shot first:

It's possible because he's terrible at every other aspect of basketball.

Depends how much stock you put into the numbers. Personally this doesn’t mean much to me….

But it means a lot to some.

Really it’s tied to this too:

Defensive impact of taking away layups by just being in the way inside in a league that frowns on anything but layups and threes? Along with the death of traditional power forwards so traditional centers are often the only big bodied guys chasing rebounds?

Throws off the all time numbers. So he gets to have the highest active Drating and the highest rebound rate ever.

Ewing had to play with Oakley and Mason at the same time. Both 11 a game rebounders on their own. Barkley played with Moses….later Hakeem. Rodman played with Laimbeer and then David Robinson in his prime. Robinson had Rodman next to him then Duncan. Shaq played with Horace and then Elden Campbell. Hakeem played with Sampson, then Otis Thorpe, and Barkley.

How many teams play 2 traditional bigs together? And how often would they play another team doing the same?

Of course one super rebounder has his stats skewed just like they do for defensive numbers.

Its not necessarily being all time elite….its being an all time outlier in leagues that are no longer designed to play the game they play and prevent their strengths from being exploited.

They just lag behind in other areas that make them exploitable. Get all the rebounds and take away layups? Sure. But if the other team is shooting well?

They might as well not exist.

Great regular season compilers of high ratings from taking away layups and beating out teams with Tobias Harris types at the 4 for rebounds.

But when it’s time to play winning playoff ball they can all be exploited.

So you have to ask yourself….

How much do the numbers mean?
