Can he be what Klay Thompson used to be or is that too lofty a goal?

He can certainly be better than Klay's been in recent years with a much cheaper contract.

Hield is a good fit for the team. His ability to create is not elite-tier (neither was Klay's). But when Curry is your teammate, you will get wide open looks. So far he's over 50% from the 3 pt line with these wide open looks. 69% True Shooting.
His basketball IQ is not as high as Klay's and he sometimes makes mental mistakes. I pointed out one where he tried to get all the way to the hoop w/ 2 defenders; there was contact, but it was on the opponents court and refs usually dont blow the whistle as the clock is running out. Fortunately, on the Warriors with Curry Kuminga and Wiggins as a 3rd option, Draymond facillitating, he doesn't have to make a lot of judgment calls. Just shoot.
Hield appears to be at his worst when he's forcing things in ISO. So long as he can stay away from that habit, and take high percentage shots, he will have a great season.
It makes sense that on a mediocre team, he never realized his potential but on the Warriors he can be one of the best 2nd men in the game.
