I’ve heard multiple NBA types explain that what fans don’t understand is Doc might be the best interview in the NBA and everybody who interacts with him in person comes away liking him. You might later, not like him, but he is a great first impression and owners and upper management types absolutely love him to death when they meet. It’s like he’s interviewing you. He plays golf with all the NBA powerbrokers, and his name comes up somewhere for every big opening because players trust him and owners love him. Hes also said to be a beast at passing the buck and coming away unscathed after chaos

So like it or not, he’s taking over one of your teams that even mildly under performs in the next few years.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the Spurs when pop finally retires if they’ve turned that around. He was supposed to get the job instead of pop when he was just doing TV. The sun won’t fall Apart soon enough to still have a core he would take.

Mavs?

Is Doc taking over the Mavs when they underperform one year soon and He talks that crazy old lady who owns them now to believing he’s the key to getting Luka to re sign?

It would be the Knicks but this is his last NBA job. Even if he could get another shot I think the level of failure in Milwaukee is wearing him out (just my opinion). If they don't turn it around this is it.

Sounds like he should be a GM and not a coach.

I agree that this will probably be his last job. He got a lot of mileage out of his one ring. I remember Boston fans dogging him prior to the KG deal.

How often do coaches just retire and go away at his age? He isn’t even normal retirement age yet. He’s 63. Don Nelson just walked away though. He’s pretty much a hippie type growing weed now. He’s barely recognizable. He was probably older than Doc when he walked away, but I’m not sure by how much. He played in the 60s, but he retired a good 15 years ago. I bet he was 68-69.

feels like Doc would stick around for a while. He went to TV and somebody immediately snatched him off the sidelines.

Gary Trent did not bring the defensive intensity that was required.
Ajex came in and did what was needed. (perfect fit)

Rivers will be there till end of season , to see what shakes out for the playoffs.

It is his last job.
