9 games in to me he's been 2nd best player behind only Jokic. In past seasons I'd rank him top 10 at best.

Most of his muscle gains are in past years, he's about the same size this season as he was last season. So if he has been doping (an accusation for which there is no evidence whatsoever) it's something that he has been doing for years, not just a new development.
Anyone interested in the real story that isn't just hating should know that Tatum and his people felt like his jumper was broken, as evidenced by not just the shooting motion but his substandard shooting in the last postseason and then not hitting any threes in the Olympics. So he got with his trainer Drew Hanlon and (hopefully) fixed it. The result us that so far he has shot better. NOt much difference in the rest of his game but that is important. He may be the best he's ever neen but this actually isn't the first time he's averaged 30 and it's only been 9 games.

I would say he is out of the shooting slump that started at the end of last season and lasted through the playoffs and Olympics. Obviously shooting is a big issue but the sample size is too small to say he is really better than his career norms.
When you are 1st team All-NBA it is pretty hard to make big improvements.
