Ivy league schools canceled classes after Trump declared the victor

Ivy League schools are supposed to be full of America's smartest minds. The universities mold future leaders. Or, that's what we've been led to believe. Judging from the post-Trump win reaction, it seems like that might not be the case.

Harvard and Princeton University both canceled some classes following Trump's victory, according to The Harvard Crimson and The Daily Pennsylvanian.

Yes, Ivy League students were so triggered by Donald Trump returning to the White House that kids needed time off to process what had happened.

Again, we're supposed to believe these are America's next leaders.

The most embarrassing response might have been from Georgetown University in the nation's capital. Students were offered crayons to color with and cookies to eat in order to rebound from Donald Trump winning, according to The Free Press.

It costs around $80,000 a year to attend Georgetown when counting tuition, room and board and other expenses. Imagine spending the price of a nice car every year on an education and then needing crayons and cookies because Kamala Harris didn't beat Donald Trump in the election.

The ones who go through an anarchist phase know more about Marx, Malatesta, Rocker than most people know about jobs they've worked for 20 years, and came to conclusion based on that; they're open to having their minds changed because they've learned so much they realize how much they actually don't know about certain subjects. Some did suffer from dunning kruger valley of despair effect though, I know I did. When you're so used to being one of the smartest kids in your high school and you go to a university where so many kids can lap you intellectually is very humbling.

I went to elite schools growing up. Not Ivy league for college, but my high school was top ranked in the country and many of my peers went to ivy league schools.

There are many different modes of intelligence. Ivy league brats who get there largely because of their parents wealth / tutoring / family expectations are the least likely people to change their minds on these types of things.

Their brains are like super computers that have been hardwired to be ultra productive and efficient, but they lack diversity of experience with other rungs of society below the one they grew 99% up in. Which consists of... everybody else.

There are tons of high school students who get into ivy league schools who aren't valedictorians because they come from magnet vocational science and math institute high schools that already recruited the best talent from each town and consolidated it into one school. And then tons more who get in with daddy's alumni status and donations without ever being top of their class. Valedictorians would be the minority at a lot of these schools.



The high schools that do have lots who go onto to Ivy? Elite Private boarding schools that have insane requirements themselves.

Harvard - only 63% attended public high school
Princeton - same as Harvard, 63%
Brown University - only 58% of its students came from a public high school

ALL IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS - of those who did attend public high school, 27% were either Valedictorian or Salutatorians


So less than half of Ivy League students attended public high school and were not were either Valedictorian or Salutatorian. If you went to a public high school, even a really good one, there are not "LOTS" of Ivy League peers there.

My graduating class was less than 60 students. Some of them that went to ivy league schools would've been valedictorians in their regular public township high schools, where kids generally didn't give a **** about school. But they went somewhere where finishing top 20 was like finishing top 1-2 at the average school.

These type of schools exist in every state and are "public schools". Huge difference between one of them and the average public school where most kids don't give a ****.

Public schools by definition are government tax payer funded schools of the state. Most are your average high school and some are specialized institutions.

Private schools exist based off of the tuition and income transferred directly from the students families to the school.

The school I went to? Was of the former variety. I'm not going to name drop anything because some of yall are BIG time wierdos. And... quite frankly, if you were half the sleuth you think you are, you'd already know.

Which makes this conversation about the intelligence of Ivy League kids all that more depressing.
