Fans would be more interested to see the best players play old school basketball again.
I think the players would compete harder too. You cant justify heaving 30 foot bombs if they dont even count for any extra. Guys would just look stupid. Instead theyd be forced to try to get good shots, and that would probably motivate the defense to actually try preventing them. Nobody wants to chase the ball around the three point line on defense in the allstar game. But if you actually have to guard a man, guys will take a lil more pride in that.
I think it's a good solution worth trying. Also just be interesting to see how the game looks without the three point line for the first time in 40 years. It's perfect for an exhibition.
I doubt the league has the balls to do it but itd be a cool wrinkle IMO.
