And not even for missing games apparently
“In the meeting, Maxey challenged Embiid to be on time to team activities, calling out the former league MVP about being late ‘for everything’ and how it impacts the locker room, from other players to the coaching staff, sources briefed on the meeting told ESPN.”
It’s Shams so….pretty good track record.

KG would be late often, supposedly would make the team plane wait. His overall work ethic was unquestioned though and Icant see anyone calling out Garnett. I have some respect for Maxey being bold enough to call out the star. I don't know that it will matter but most guys don't have the guts to do that.

If he was a bum who didn't matter, sure. He's and All-Star himself so that's fair.

Everyone's pointing fingers...
Maxey and the team are upset Embiid is continuously late to meetings.
Embiid said he's confused about what the team is trying to execute on the court.
Sixers players have said they want Nurse to coach harder and have a clear direction. Their practices don't have direction.
Trust the process.
Personally, I feel like Embiid doesn't truly love to play basketball. I feel like it's something he chose to do late in his childhood because he had a natural talent for it and it was easier to go that route. Consiering he didn't start playing organized basketball until he was 15. Could just be me though, but it just feels like he doesn't take it seriously as I'd like a super-star caliber player to take it.

^ I agree with the take that Embiid doesn't seem all that enthralled with basketball. It's more like he's 7 foot, extremely talented and well it makes sense to play it, but if he actually 'loves' the game he hides it well.

It definitely comes off that way.

Before even having this info I was gonna make a thread about Embiid needing to step away for psychological reasons.
He talked openly last year about being depressed, tried to frame it as being depressed about being injured but Im skeptical of that. He doesnt seem to WANT to be healthy. Hes always looking for a way to escape the pressure. He just doesnt want it right now. He doesnt want people ripping him on Twitter if he doesnt succeed. He doesnt want the media blaming him if they dont win. He doesnt wanna have to play against Jokic in front of opposing fans.
Embiid's a nice fella, he's funny, hes sensitive, he doesnt want a lot of smoke, and likes playing low stakes casual basketball. Thats who he is, and he's expected to be a lot more alpha than that and he doesnt want it. Hes also had some personal tragedy in his life as is well known by now, and that Im sure weighs in his mind too.
He should step away for a bit, maybe for the rest of the season. Hand those game checks back or donate them to charity, and just take the rest of the year off. Maybe visit Africa like Dave Chappelle did :lol. Dont worry about who's judging you for it. He needs to clear his head and get away from the pressure for a bit. Not just step away from playing which hes already done plenty of, but step away from being tied to professional basketball right now and having injury return timetables to worry about and media press conferences and all of it.
Just remove himself for a while, clear his mind and think about what he wants to do long term.

They seem like a legitimately terrible team.
And is Paul George looking wash up to everybody else too?
I guess we can't fully judge them until they're fully healthy though of course which is what's the fair thing to do

He's 34. That's not as old today as it was 20 years ago, but it's reasonable to say we've already seen his best.
What team meetings don’t have players calling one another other when things aren’t going well? The difference here is someone leaked it and it’s being reported. It was inevitable something was going to be said given the Sixers trajectory at this point in the season. Along with all the expectations and narratives floating around. If this is what will spark the sixers or be used as the headliner that sparked the Sixers? So be it.

Or maybe they were worried about KG ripping their face off with his teeth :lol

You dumbass it's not about getting leaked and other teams having meetings. It's about Embiid being the absolute worst when it comes to intangibles and leadership, which this proves. He's lazy off the court and lazy on the court, a flopper, whiny bitch.
Lacks championship DNA to be the main man.
This confirms it. It's time for you to come to terms that your franchise player ain't that guy. He embodies nothing that Philly stands.

Trust the process was something Sam Hinkie started. It ended when he was forced out. Why do people attach the saying to the current Sixers is beyond me. I mean I get it because Embiid was one of the pieces/face of the saying. But the process ended when the Colongelos did everything opposite of what the Process was. That said who knows what the state of the team looks like had Hinkie saw it through. But hella annoying at hearing trust the process now.

Like Harden, some of us can sniff a piece of trash from a mile away.

This muthafuka Nick Nurse was a defensive wizard when he 1st started coach the raptors for a year or two. I mean constant adjustments! I knews everytime a star played them he would bring some zone from college or highschool specialized just to stop the opposing team's top scorer. WTF is this nick nurse at? Cause i aint seen em! I haven't seen us run a zone in 2 fking years outside of a 2-3.He got paid and stop giving a fk....fk this dude. get this mf off my team!

Easy to call someone a b*tch hiding behind a keyboard. They do it so effortlessly. Be the most passive people you ever cross paths in life.
But spot on about Luka.

These kinds of things are forgiven and overlooked when your team is winning. They might even be endearing if your team is exceptionally good.
The sixers are 2-11.

Maxey is back this week, possibly
tomorrow.
We will see if this works pretty soon

Therein lies the issue. Don’t wait til the team is losing/all hell breaks loose to bring up accountability. Should’ve been handled before it got to this point.

What am I butt hurt about? I’m just pointing out the irony. Other have said what you did. Did I reply taking a dig at their team/fav player? No. But I chuckled at a Suns fan of all people typing what you did.

Not everyone is an alpha leader. Like Kawhi has never been an alpha leader but he's clearly alpha in other ways. I suspect Embiid is the same and need someone to lead him. Not sure a 24 years old Maxey is the guy but this could be a good thing.
