He’s not entirely wrong given his criteria of accolades and performance combined and the names he mentioned still leave out multiple people who are both MVPs and NBA champions so you could make the case he’s right overall. But of course the messenger is being considered

PG is deep all-time. I'm not mad at the idea. But Isiah and Westbrook are complete no-go's for me.

I think Westbrook was as good as Durant post-2013 into 2017, but I don't think he was better than Chris Paul, even at his best compared to CP3's best. And CP3 has like two primes. the Hornets into the early Clippers run and the mid Clippers run until his first Rocket year. 10 year stretch of crazy ball. No bad defensive years anywhere at any time for ten years.

Magic
West
Stockton
Oscar
Curry

all have arguments.

Kidd and Nash are on the fringes. Kidd didn't peak high enough on offense IMO. Flat out.

Nash is interesting. His prime lingered on way, way longer than people actually paid attention to. He was the best offensive player in the Western Conference during the 2010 playoffs. And he didn't just drop off the earth the 2 years after that. His offenses were damn good until he was finished.

Westbrook has been a basketball terrorist for at least half a decade now. And even at their best, I don't think he was better on either end. I think his career falls way short even if his prime was pretty competitive with CP3 for the 4 years it lasted.

People should just make separate lists for pre and post three-point era.

CP has been in the All-NBA 1st team 4 times and All-NBA 2nd team 5 times. I don't think many PGs has achieved this.

He's also considered a pure PG like Stockton or Magic. Unlike Curry, West, Oscar or Westbrook.

What's not to understand.

If a lot of your peers hate you it means you have some kind of character issue which could be the reason why you never managed to win anything. Boogie knows his shit. Feck Chris Small.

Now that Around the Horn is ending I hope we get Cousins, Perkins, Arenas, and Jackson just being haters and dumb for 30 minutes every week.

Chris Paul is a top ten PG...if you are in the top ten at that position you can be in the top five.

Gary Payton, Tiny Archibald, Walt Frazier, Chris Paul, Isiah Thomas, Steph Curry, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Oscar Robertson, and Magic Johnson can be put in any order.

I honestly don’t recall him ever being in top 5 arguments. And if he is I too don’t get it. While there’s truth in what Cousins said. He also does t like a Chris Paul. And when you don’t like someone it’s kind of hard to be unbiased when speaking on them. That said I’ve heard from way too many ex players that Chris Paul is not well liked.

I've always thought Paul was overrated, at least per the media's adoration of him. He's still a premium guy all time, but he is flawed. Particularly in that he's stuck in his pace. Even when he was younger he played slower. He's obviously a savant with the ball, and an extremely efficient scorer, but I'd take a guy who can force tempo with a few more mistakes.

Cousey should be on any list that's not being limited by era for whatever reason.

Chris Paul was just as deadly when sped up in Houston.

A lot of guard just don't have the complete package this guy did. Completely skilled everywhere all the time. 3 level scorer with elite ball handling and passing, defensive intensity for years and years on end. Very high IQ. He even managed to be a good rebounder for a PG.

The media is gonna give that guy credit. Especially the more analytical media of post-2012 where the access to stats in at a really high level. I still don't think Stephen Curry was clearly better than him until 2019 after he blew his hamstring out and lost his prime.

^Curry not better than CP3 until 2019 ????? :lol

You smoking crack!!!!!! :facepalm

Even a mentally ill broken clock is right sometimes.

DeMarcus 100% right on this one.

Chris Small media presence, and dramatic antics and attention-seeking behavior, really fools idiots, and people who never played the game. Including many media figures who were never players, and their company men sidekicks who say whatever is in the teleprompter with conviction, despite knowing it’s bullsh!t, like Grant Hill, Reggie Miller, Richard Jefferson, etc.

Everyone who played ball at a high level knows Chris Small’s reputation in the media, is vastly outsized compared to his actual talent and impact.

Plus, MF got hurt EVERY SINGLE POST-SEASON.
Since forever.
Clippers never got out of the first round when he was there.
Any team since that got somewhere, he would get hurt in that 2nd round series or WCF.
Plus, he’s an annoying, disingenuous, pathological liar rich kid (grew up in a very large 2-story brick veneer house with a in-ground pool and courts in the backyard.

Fu@k him, and anyone dumb enough to be a fan of him.
BOOGIE IS RIGHT.

The Clippers must have gotten out of the first round with CP3 because he hit the dagger over Duncan to end the series.

You know what, I change my mind. You use all caps and smilies. You have to be right. Even when you are wrong and say shit like he never got the first round (?). But let's say he didn't. He made the Finals as an old busted down version of himself in Phoenix. I guess PHX Paul > Clippers Paul right?

BTW, Curry gets injured just as much, even in the playoffs. I don't see this as an advantage for him. Curry was getting outplayed by Paul in the 2018 playoffs. They were on the same tier by any metric you want to look at. This all stoped in 2019.
