This isn't new but Julius Randle really likes to decide that he's going to try to take a shot and then does anything possible to create one for himself even if there was no real opportunity and it made no sense to try it that exact time

There’s a funny Clip of his son playing basketball and going and taking the ball from a teammate. I’ll see if I can find it.

Randle the type of guy who would rather catch the ball, go into triple threat, have a step back long two and brick rather than take the 3pt shot on the catch. Hes a dinosaur in every sense. Stupid af, thinks way too highly of himself and mental midget. Melo wannabe

So glad he's not on the Knicks anymore. Hated that guy.

Randle has what would clinically be defined as "Melo syndrome". In that he's a great individual player, but lacks the awareness to see that his style is a detriment to ball movement and teamwork. He's too talented for his own good and it gives him tunnel vision. And like kblaze noted this may be a genetic thing. The mind and brain are just as genetic as the physical body.

And he rewarded the behavior at the end of that clip.
Good luck Minnesota.
