This one really blew my mind.
Gloria and Man at the garden are songs I can do without on this project. However maybe they will grow on me especially the latter song which gives a Nas One Mic feel (was never big on one mic).
The rest do not get skipped. Best track is Heart part 6 by far. It’s a perfect song. Production lyrics flow story. I enjoy GNX over To pimp a butterfly. This album is not concept driven with him narrating it from start to finish. This is just flat out hard hitting fun music and sprinkled old school music from the 90’s late 80’s. That I don’t think younger generations will catch.
Cross off Gloria. Listened to it on repeat and I caught it. Hopefully man at the garden does the same.

Reincarnated & Hey Now are probably my two favorite tracks at the moment.
Reincarnated has Tupac written all over it, the beat and the way Kendrick is delivering his lines. It's also his most layered song.
Hey Now has a lot of Bay Area vibes which I love.

The fact they are shocked and surprised is weird. Who didn’t know this was a 2pac sample at the first sound?

Yea, it was pretty obvious. He also had the same delivery as Tupac in some of his lines.
"Lets take It back to Michigan in 1947."
"The women that fell to they feet, so many to choose."
Man at the garden is definitely a banger. It’s like a song of daily affirmation verses. I can listen to this from start to finish no skips. 2nd best Kendrick album to me.

Solid 7.5/10 album imo one of the weaker albums in Kendricks discography but still a top 3 album this year
Favourite songs, Reincarnated & Luther

Honestly I thought Kendrick's song was garbage.
25+ years later and 2pac's verses over the same beat are still better.

Tupac was basically a poor man's Kendrick with more charisma. Kendrick is on another level as a rapper.
I would rank Reincarnated as a top 15 Kendrick song ever, maybe even top 10.

I think you're really underselling Tupac here.

Not at all, I just feel people undersell Kendrick because he is a current rapper.
Tupac never made an album as good as "Good Kid, Mad City" or "To Pimp a Butterfly".
Tupac had more passion and a better delivery in his raps, but Kendrick is on another level in terms of word play and creativity.

nah but seriously - you do have a point. pac's forte and focus wasn't metaphors, flow switches and wordplay. he was more a part of the storytelling/delivery/emotion side of rap. but he could bring it on the lyrical front though, just not on the same level as kendrick.
even still, the all time lyrical legends like rakim, de la soul, mf doom, black thought, lupe fiasco and big l all blow kendrick outta the water. imo.

Garbage is pure hyperbole. 2pac is legendary. His energy on this beat is unmatched. Even tho Kendrick did a good job trying.

2pac was for sure a lyricist. Your post kinda reads like you’re shortchanging him.
Interesting Lupe and Bkg L is on your lyrical legends list.

I agree To Pimp a Butterfly & Good Kid Mad City are some of the greatest hip hop albums ever made but saying 2pac is a poor man's Kendrick is an outrageous take
