CBS Sports: "Since becoming a starter, Pippen has averaged over 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal per game as the Grizzlies have won five of eight to more than stay afloat with Morant out of action. Memphis is now 10-7 and above the Play-In line in the stacked and tightly packed Western Conference."

Happy for him. Sometimes I feel like all these ex-players' sons (there are a lot) get to the NBA riding their fathers coattails. How about Shareef O'Neal? I remember he got to the league. Is he doing good?

Looking at his B-ball ref page, he was signed a 10 day contract by the Kings on Oct 18th, got waived on the 19th. Not sure what happened there, but doesn't appear as though any of Shaq's talent was passed down.

As you said though, happy for Pip Jr. Has actually earned his way into the league and doing pretty decent with the Griz (for the season, 13/6/4 on 49/40/78 splits.)

He's been great. Not sure why the Lakers let him go. Another Pelinkduh blunder.

Lakers were really guard-heavy that year with Westbrook, Reeves,Pat Bev, DLo,Schroder, etc. Wasn't much of a role for him/good enough then to warrant a spot. More opportunity and following an upward curve of improvement has landed him a spot in Memphis.

As a random aside, for some reason I thought he was taller, like 6'3 but he's listed at 6'1.

It's impressive that the grizzlies have good guys that can win them games without morant.

This is just another example of guys that Lebron couldn't develop

High-scoring point guard styles like Lebron have a high volume of unassisted buckets that leave teammates standing around in spot-up roles, which prevents teammate development, teammate performance, elite chemistry or great teams..

Zero young players developed on Lebron's watch in 21 years, unless we're counting Reaves.. So it's quite a trend.. There are dozens of players like Pippen Jr. that developed elsewhere and cratered alongside Lebron

He quite literally never played a single second with LeBron.

Pippen Jr. was in the Lakers' training camp, but he couldn't play well enough alongside Lebron to even make the team!!!... Then he proceeds to thrive as a starter for Memphis..

So it's clear as day.. The point stands... Lebron's skillset craters most teammates, which included Pippen Jr.... It's funny because he already cratered potential "pippen's" like Hughes or Ingram, and now he craters the ACTUAL pippen, lmao... #LeCancer

Not a single second of which came with LeBron on the court, I checked lineup data, he was only playing in garbage time based on the guys he was listed as playing with (never played with AD either). Apparently LeBron should have used his jedi mind powers to make SPJ's shots go in from the bench?

The last player to record at least 25 and 8 while shooting 80% at the United Center?

Scottie Pippen on Nov.15th 1995... he put up 27 and 8 while shooting 89%.

Pippen Jr was obviously capable, but simply didn't play well enough alongside Lebron to make the team... this is standard - there's a long list of guys like this.

Heck, Danny Green started off alongside Lebron... lol... young players are simply stifled alongside Lebron because his skillset reduces them to spot-up role - this is statistical and historical fact.

Pippen is a low-efficiency player, so 89% means that he got all open shots - that's what the triangle does - Pippen took 7 years to master a 15-20 ppg role in the triangle, and he was nothing outside of it (worse than Jeff Green outside the triangle).. It's funny because Pippen Jr. can actually do what Pippen Sr. couldn't - create his own shot

Provide evidence he played any real time with LeBron in a serious game.

I never thought we’d get to the point of cratering skill-sets in training camp. Pretty good stuff.

It's what happens when you're quite literally incapable of conceding a point. It's pathological. LeBron could win a ring with middle schoolers as his teammates and 3ball would say he got carried.

he played in training camp.. lebron was in training camp too, so they played together and coaches decided that he didn't play well enough alongside Lebron... standard procedure.. there's a very long list of guys that didn't play well alongside Lebron.. The vast majority of decent players that played with Lebron declined alongside him

Pippen Jr. played several games alongside Lebron in 2022 - here's the play-by-play for the first game of the 2022 season, where Pippen Jr. plays the final minutes alongside Lebron

https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/pbp/202210180GSW.html#q4

There are many other examples... So everything that I said stands - Lebron's skillset craters most teammates, so he cannot produce a great teams like Curry, MJ, Duncan, or Kobe.

He had 2 points in 2 minutes in that game. Meaning he was scoring at a higher rate than MJ when he played with LeBron. So you just proved Lebron made him elite.

He had a heart condition that had him sitting out in college. I think he played briefly for the Lakers summer league team?
