View Full Version : It appears - at least temporarily - I have reverse-jinxed Westbrook and the DEN bench

Their bench group has managed to look like competent NBA players since I made that thread about their atrocious start to the season and dismal prospects for playoff success.

I still think Westbrook is more likely to end up a negative than a positive in the playoffs, but I'll admit for the last half dozen games hes looked like a reasonably useful player.

It also helps that they took Saric out of the rotation completely, he was just putrid for them to start the season. They replaced him with a completely random guy from the end of the bench and got better.

You guys just don't know the game - Jokic is great off-ball, so he fits with Westbrook, while Lebron stinks off-ball, so he doesn't fit with Westbrook.. aka Jokic is simply better at basketball by virtue of his skillset promoting better chemistry so the team can win with less and have better teams.

it's that simple - Westbrook made the playoffs with everyone, except Lebron - only Lebron failed with Westbrook because only Lebron has a high volume of unassisted buckets (ball-domination) that leave teammates standing around in spot-up roles.

It's crazy how the Nuggets always beat Lebron AD and the Lakers down. Their H2H is one of the most lopsided ever between superstar players and their teams.

Even the Lakers trash that they threw away like Westbrook almost hung a triple double on them on 60% shooting off the bench.

Do you think it might have anything to do with not having to choose between Drummond or Carmelo to play the 5?

there's a lot of fraud going on out there folks, such as the tyson-paul fight, the "next jordan" (above), or the Lebron fake goat debate and manufactured career.

Drummond averaged 18/14 for the Cavs right before joining Lebron, so that was never an issue or a detriment - Drummond and Melo were huge assets at 5th and 6th option, so the Lakers had AD and the best cast in the league - the media is just fooling you like they did the tyson-paul fight, the kamala campaign, or the "Ant is the next MJ" nonsense (see previous post).

Again, Lebron is the only guy that failed with Westbrook and couldn't make playoffs, while Drummond is one of the best rebounders ever - he was far better in 2019 than fossils like 2010 Shaq or fossil Rodman with the Bulls (3/8 for the entire 97' Playoffs and wasn't the starter for the 98' Playoffs).. now THOSE guys were massive liabilities as the 3rd or 4th best player on their teams..

Yikes.. I'm still not sure how MJ won with Rodman getting 3/8 on 35% for the 97' Playoffs - oh wait, I know how he did it - he co-led the rebounding with Rodman for that run - both MJ and Rodman averaged 8 RPG for the 97' run, while MJ also carried the scoring and assist loads for that run as well...

This weekend, maybe you'll learn to think for yourself and stop making excuses for Lebron

Have you ever used an instant pot? Someone got me one for a Christmas gift last year... tell tale sign i am getting old when these are the kind of gifts I am receiving :lol Anyway this thing is amazing. I can cook beans in there with just a few beep beep of the buttons. No more worrying about the water running low and scorching. Do not know if you ever had the misfortune of scorching beans but man let me tell you that is one of the worst and most stubbornly lingering smells ever. It is bad... really bad. If you have ever burnt microwave popcorn it is on that level.

Since you are only ever interested in having the conversation you want to have regardless of the topic... I will respond in kind

As a well known scalding critic of crackbaby Westbrick … from what I have seen with him and the nuggets so far, he will still take and badly miss deflating 3’s then get stupid fouls immediately after, he will still insist on trying to finish difficult lefty layups at alltime bad %’s, he will still turn the ball over way too much trying to force the ball into high risk low reward situations … and he will still commit dumb fouls and dumb gambles on defense.

But, he still plays well on the break, and he still throws good post entry passes. His passing to cutters still shows bad judgement, as he wants to force one handed off the dribble, inaccurate telegraphed bounce passes to cutters, and that yields a lot of bad turnovers, but his post entry passes to Jokic have been good. And his push ahead passes on breaks good too.

There may be a scenario in which he doesn’t ruin their team chemistry just before / during the playoffs. But there also is a higher likelihood than this MF will bubble up and jap out on Jamal Murray or another nuggets guard in a way that destroys their locker room.

Nuggets are still looking fairly mediocre to be honest. They shown flashes of being the contender team they've been the last couple years though. I attribute their lacklusterness to Gordon being out. He's a huge part of their success.

As for Westbrook.....BarberSchool captured it pretty well. He provides energy and pressure, but he also kills plays by being Westbrook.

Him playing a diminished role helps. 24 minutes off the bench is probably where you want Westbrook to be. Give him enough time for his energy to be useful but not enough time to completely fvck things up.

Denver wants to play faster this year and Russ helps them with that. But he's still Russ which means bad decisions and bad shots.
