View Full Version : Why do African American men feud?

Just seen the Liangelo Ball argument with a rapper.....
It follows a very predictable pattern......
Shaq v Kobe
Biggie v Tupac
Jordan v Isaiah
In Kareems autobiography he absolutely manhandles Wilt. Destroys him. Gilbert Arenas brought guns to the locker room due to a feud he had with Crittendon.
Noah Lyles v the NBA
Then you got the ****ed up shit that Ali said about Joe Frazier where correct me if I'm wrong Frazier never forgive him for.
Im just big on pattern recognition and I notice that AA men are frequently feuding with each other. Is it nature or nurture? I can't say I recall Africans getting into it like that so I guess it's cultural.

Attention. No one craves attention more than blacks. That is why the majority of them are in some form of entertainment.
Earlier this year my wife was telling me her surgical tech nurse was live-streaming in the staff lounge prior to a procedure. Needless to say she’s no longer there.

I was in a fantasy league years ago where there were 2 of my friends who were AA and they would constantly fight and curse each other out on the group chat. Nobody else fought with any type of seriousness but they legit hated each other.
Gil had a feud with Crittendon? Gil has told the story a 100 times. There was no feud.

I don't know if the OP is an Axe alt humoring himself.
He creates a thread called "Why do African American men feud?" And provides examples of African American men feuding with other African American men, in areas that are completely dominated by African American men.
I mean, who does he expect 2 Pac to feud with? Vanilla Ice?
It's like asking why do Dominican men in the Dominican Republic feud with other Dominican men in the Dominican Republic.
Who do NHL players feud with?
So a horrible, absurd Axe gimmick.
Suddenly smells like aspergers in here when a deranged individual above me is having another autistic meltdown about me even tho i have nothing to do at all with this thread. Foh you moron. :facepalm

There's "not being friends" then there's these feuds......
Who killed X? The NOI (Newark chapter I believe).....
African Americans lost a great civil rights leader because he and the NOI couldn't coexist...... Imagine one of your great orators, thinkers, being killed by one of your own people. :facepalm
Speaking of which I think Garvey (admittedly Jamaican not a US dude) was at loggerheads with WEB........

Actually, correct me if Im wrong..... Jordan and Barkley don't talk anymore and haven't for maybe ten years or so which is wild to me since they were the very best of friends.
After Kobes death you would think MJ would try to bury the hatchet in, I mean all Charles did was criticize his ownership, not like he screwed him out of money or was banging his wife. Jordan wrong for that imo. I get he has this whole uncompromising persona but surely he's too old to be holding grudges like this .... Lifes too short.

I don't want to get called a racist but:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/228079574_Racial_differences_in_narcissistic_tende ncies#:~:text=Study%201%20(N%20%3D%20367),and%20so cially%20desirable%20response%20tendencies.
Study 1 (N = 367) found that Black individuals reported higher levels of narcissism than White individuals even when controlling for gender, self-esteem level, and socially desirable response tendencies.
As for why, I don't know. But it's not necessarily all bad. There's a reason why black people make good cultural icons in certain areas such as sports and entertainment. They're a passionate, spirited people. I'm reminded of Willie Beaman in Any Given Sunday.

Barkley probably said/did things where him criticizing the ownership was the last straw. Everyone doesn’t have to be best buds. You grow apart. Not being friends doesn’t mean they hold I’ll will towards the other. You’re judging based on what Barkley said. Who knows how Mike feels about Barkley.

OP taking an anecdotal, unscientific, and less than diplomatic approach to his topic, altho that doesnt mean it automatically IS unsupportable.
It could be to some extent, small or moderate, a legitimate predisposition and there could be identifiable cultural or biological reasons for it. But even if you try to take a genuine scientific approach to his supposition it's going to fall on deaf ears. Too many elites are invested in proliferating the most profitable narrative, not the most truthful. And they indoctrinate the public HARD to make sure the public is uncomfortable with any narrative but the one most profitable to those in charge. Which in this case is that "everyone is always the same always."
So, youre not gonna get too far trying to go in another direction even if your motives are innocuous or commendable.

Is it a good idea to promote a truth regardless of its outsized effect on people, society, and culture? Truth for truth's sake? If science tells us that certain groups are better at certain things than others, should we promote that? Or is it better to pretend those potentially inconvenient truths don't exist?
A mature individual could deal with it. But most people aren't mature. Perhaps it's better for society to tell the dummies a lie.

The value of truth is definitely one of those 'eternal conundrums.' Part of what got our society where it is undoubtedly is the flexibility of the truth.
That said, I tend to believe that in order to make actionable decisions in the long term interest of society, you have to occasionally hit the truth button in order to make the necessary adjustments, and then go back to a softer narrative for a while. Sort of like Earthquakes. We couldnt live with them all the time but theyre occasionally necessary to relieve certain tensions/pressure.

I agree. I watched Batman Begins last night and your analogy reminded me of this quote: "When a forest grows too wild a purging fire is inevitable and natural." Although dangerous, wildfires serve an important ecological function. They help germinate seeds, return nutrients to the soil, and clear unnecessary debris.
Straying too far from the truth is dangerous. Need a truth bomb every now and then to restore the balance.

Yeah. The difficulty is some people at the top are so deeply invested financially in the alternate narrative they resist allowing it to be addressed. And theyve inculcated so many sheep with their narrative the public struggles to put pressure on them.
Sometimes this actually works to the benefit of stability. As you alluded to, most people dont want and cant handle "all truth, all the time." But when things do require correction it becomes that much harder hard to pursue.

Whenever I come across a very docile negro, as opposed to the more aggressive "I'ma kill ya if ya don't gimme yo sneakers fool" type of negroes, I automatically want to make friends with them.
We need more peaceful type of people in the world who are just looking to do some good and don't want to sell drugs, or rap, or just shoot people for fun.

Fair points.
Does Jordan have any friendships with players from the NBA?
Seems like his circle would all be strictly people who he has business relationships with or who he plays golf with.
I saw on Jimmy Kimmel Magic talking about riding rollercoasters with Isaiah and having fun and I don't think Jordan lets his guard down like that.
Jordan is wired different, not a fraternal type of guy.
