The Pelicans are confusing team. It's clear that they are not good and that their chemistry isn't good. That part isn't confusing. For what's confusing is that they are the second worst team in the standings these days and even with all their injuries it's kind of clear that they should trade everybody. Which doesn't make sense though because they have several good guards and several good forwards. They have multiple clear building blocks. But those building blocks either keep getting hurt or don't seem to fit together.

It's a mess.

If you were GM of the Pelicans what is the first second and third moves you would attempt to make, in order?

If I wanted to start over I would call the clippers and offer them Ingram for something along the lines of Tucker, Mann, and Bones with whatever third team filler could make up the extra 4-5 million I’d need. Clippers need to be decent for at least a while trying to sell that new arena. BI isn’t as bad as Leonard injury wise at least and isn’t on a mega deal like George wanted.

Keep them in the mix.

then I’ll call the nets and see if they are willing to give me Ben Simmons expiring deal And some of those picks they got from the Knicks for Zion since he wants to be in New York. If they’re still selling I offer something like this to the Hornets and ask for a pick or two on top

Hornets get a locally beloved potential highlight reels to pair with LaMelo and convince each other not to walk if they get it together. I get out of the contract and get whatever picks I could.

Then I call the Bucks and see if they Want to give Giannis the idea they’re still trying to compete and trade the remains of Middleton and a pick for CJ McCollum. If Middleton gets healthier then I see what contender is interested in him at the deadline.

I think Dejounte Murray would be easy to move anywhere once I let it be known he’s available. The Lakers would probably still throw in something and some future picks. Even second rounders.

load up on late picks and draft nothing but high upside skinny kids who can either shoot or play defense….or 22-24 year old college upper classmen who know how to play and don’t make waves. Hope to hit on your own lottery picks and go from there.

The Pelicans have been injured every year for like 8 years in a row man. They have the worst luck.

Seriously, it's crazy, they have to be the most injured team every year. AD was injured a lot, Cousins has career ending injury basically, BI and Zion are always not playing, Murray broke his hand first game this year. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

They're still better than the worst-owned lottery hornets.
