View Full Version : Shams says Ingram turned down 50 million a year from the Pelicans.

He is in his fourth straight season missing a lot of games due to injury. He now has a really bad ankle sprain that has an out indefinitely once more.
And coming into the season, he turned down a 50 million a year extension.
Feels like he has to be traded in the next couple months, but I don’t know who is going to take him and give him 250+ million which I suppose he wants.
Unless he just hates the pelicans and is willing to take considerably less from someone else which is possible.
Not a smart move if money is important to him but if the team he’s on matters more to him than money understandable.

Didnt I read just a couple days ago he recently dumped his agent and signed with LeKlutch? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Bc if so... LA reunion incoming

He misses over 20 games every year so he can't carry a mediocre team to the playoffs and he's not a superstar that will make a good team a contender if you preserve him all season. Based on that I wouldn't give him the max. But that doesn't mean no other GM will do it. If he can get himself worked over to Miami in whatever deal eventually moves Butler that's likely a win.

Still better than Tatum though.
Sorry I couldn't resist. Pels should try to trade him and if they don't get any good offers then let him walk. People seem to think it is such a disaster to let a guy walk for nothing. That is frequently better than overpaying a guy who has proven he isn't that good or reliable.

Supposedly didnt want to go to utah either so ainge is taking thevtanking up a notch with a rookie backing up a still unproven 2nd year guy at the point while their coach thinks he can play 6 bigs when most teams still play 2. Who needs wings to play basketball!

Pels dodged a bullet. I wouldn't even give him $15M.
Not against ingram or anything. But it's a bit embarrassing that ImKobe tried vouching for this guy before.

Probably one of them 2 years 100 million dollar deal joints. nobody except the elite of the elite like lebron are taking deals like that cause at any second a player's value can plummet off a cliff. He wants a 4 or 5 year max....Ingram's agent aint stupid. This is a klutch client....best in the business. He needs him a max 160 million guarantee "so if i fall of in 2 years" i still get paid.....
You know how confident you have to be in yourself to take a 2 year 100 million dollar deal and know your gonna make more money than a max on the back end cause its 0% chance u will lose value in 2 years.....no one takes these types of deals....only person who has done this recently is Jalen Green and his agent is an idiot.....respectfully
Everybody might show on the outside that they the man and have complete confidence in their game but on the inside these dudes are all insecure in their game. They all know their games aint that special and they can turn into kyle lowry/klay Thompson any year. Cept ppl like lebron....and the other 2 or 3 dudes who consistently take deals like this. The other people who would do stuff like this dont have to cause they get the superdouper max (embiid, jokic, giannis, chef, ect)

That's actually a valid point. And his injury history is another reason to want the security of added years. Unfortunately his injury history is also the reason why you wouldn't want to be locked in with him for four years. Any GM that hands him a 4 year 160+ mil is putting their job on the line. And if the owner is knowledgeable there's a good chance they don't approve it.
Him signing with Klutch could lead to the Lakers making it happen though. If he could do enough for them to make the playoffs while James takes it easy we saw in the Olympics that James can temporarily still give elite play. Just don't ask him to carry you for the whole season. But if Davis gives an mvp candidate season, Ingram gives them a star second option for 50 games and James gets to take 20 to 25 games off, do you want to be the third seed facing that sixth seed? They need OKC and Phoenix to get unlucky to make the Finals but we saw a lot of bad luck just last season.

In no way what I am about to say is definite, but it is possible that he doesnt care for the money and wants to be a part of winning culture? Or he just wants to be out of NO... I mean the dude was in LA the beginning of his career.
NO has been disorganized for way too long with unknowns in regards to whos team it is. They have banked on potential that obviously never blossomed.
If he is hoping for more than 50/year he is crazy, but he can't be that dumb or we're missing something here...

idk what to make of butler. does he want out of miami? his agent just cussed out shams on twitter claiming shams made shit up, did not make it clear if he made up the trade block thing or just the desired landing spots.

NOP gets a serviceable SF at a much lower salary. Tate and Adams are just expiring contracts.
New Orleans is not a big market, is losing, and they are already a 1st apron team. Signing Ingram long term would have been untenable anyway unless they are planning to blow up the roster elsewhere.
Zion, CJ, and Murray are all making over $30M. It's simply unrealistic to have 4 players over $30M as a top 10 payroll team that is bottom 2 in wins. Maybe a couple draft picks from Houston go their way to even the scales of losing Ingram for just a serviceable guy.
I didn't intends to suggest Houston gets Butler for free either.
