Is Payton Pritchard basically Gilbert Arenas with more class and better defense?

Gilbert wasnt really good at anything but chucking. He was also an insecure clown who didnt take winning seriously, as a way to deflect from not being good at it.

If you put Pritchard on a shit team and let him just be a clown at the expense of a team, he could chuck the ball and drop 30 every night. That's pretty much all Arenas' career was.

They're listed as 6'1 and 6'4. And as someone that had actually seen Pritchard I doubt he is 6 feet. A key element to Arenas's game is that he could shoot over a lot of defenders. It wasn't great offense but he could do it and did often. Pritchard can't shoot over anyone. He can get open with quickness, handle and guile but he's one of the smallest players in the league. If he ever gets to star it will l be a more of a point guard, which he can do but doesn't much for Boston because so many other guys handle the ball.

Lots of players could average 25 if you let them take enough shots. Jalen Green averaged like 22 a few years ago and he's pretty damn bad by NBA standards. Scoring 25 and helping the team though is something only a select few can do.

Pretty much. Which is why it puzzles me people still use the give so and so x amount of shots he can average this. Gilbert actually carried a franchise to the playoffs with his scoring.

That was my first thought but I decided to ignore it since I assumed it wasn’t a serious comparison.

People do a lot of downplaying of many volume scorers and OP is both into that and has a little racial component he likes to work in so I figured it was just a bit of a troll job.

People really don’t seem to see Gilbert as an athlete but he was good sized, strong, and really fast with good hops as well.

I always remember seeing an old Olympic track coach who ho worked with him when he was doing that part time who said he was as naturally fast as some Olympian sprinters he’d trained he just didn’t have the time to perfect his technique not being 100% dedicated to it.

That guy was a great athlete. Really quick and explosive. Just a bit of a dick on top of it. But I can hardly talk.

Well it was more of a dig at Dilbert because of HIS racial component. I dont have any racial agenda in player comparisons myself. I try to bring the objectivity.

But I did always think Dil was a clown and a loser long before I knew anything about his Pritchard comments and racially focused podcast. Just the fact that he never took competition seriously, was always cutting up being a bozo at the expense of his team, and he was extremely one dimensional.

I'd legitimately rather have Pritchard on a team. You cant win anything with Dilbert as the guy and you cant put any better players around him who wouldnt eventually wanna knock him out for being a tard. Imagine Giannis putting up with Dilbert's clown show. Dilbert was a complete basketball loser.

Well as is usually the case in ridiculous all nba vs role player comparisons you’d be stupid to take the role player even if you wanted him. You take Arenas and trade him for 2 role players you like and whatever draft picks you can get.

You can’t win anything in the first half of the season but you can let him score the 30 a game he’d probably average today and look to flip him for assets.

30ppg guys aren’t as common as “You can let anyone shoot a lot” fans think. If it were they would be way more common on bad teams. It’s tough getting that many looks and creating all those fouls and your team still being in the playoffs.

They could have been better but that’s just as true of dozens of good players people don’t complain about.

Volume scorers always get the “Can’t win that way” talk as if 78 great players who weren’t volume scorers didn’t lead solid teams nowhere.
