On one hand….wtf….on the other…he was pretty comfortably the second best player on a title team which is what they want Jimmy to do…only Jimmy wants more money and is older. But trying to win again…now?
I can see both sides.

That's an awful decision. Butler is exactly the kind of #2 who can perform like a #1 at times in big playoff games. He has proven that.
I guess they don't want to win now. Only reason not to do it.

Long way to the trade deadline. Perfect time to drive a hard bargain.

If Butler had played last playoffs I would be questioning them but he misses a lot of games (over 20 per season in Miami), he's 35 and he's going to want 50mil per for 4 or 5 years. Wiggins has been missing games too but that was some kind of personal life situation not the same as Butler's injury problems that likely get worse with age.

Yeah.
I'd also be hesitant about being the team that pays Butler that last contract at 35 anyway. Miami's not exactly rebuilding, they have a team that could still make some runs in the East and they dont wanna pay Butler. Golden State has to be a bit wary of that.
I thought he said before with a convincing tone that he's gonna stay and retire in miami all the way. Looks like it's not the case anymore. :ohwell:

At times is the key there. I feel like his better days are behind him. Even when they went to the Finals 2 seasons ago, he was pretty awful for the most part against the Celtics and Nuggets.

If you can see both sides you are being absurd.
Wiggins also was not pretty comfortably the 2nd best player on a title team lol

Comfortably is probably the wrong description but he seemed to be the only one of the options not being shit on weekly for being a hindrance. As a total player Draymond has always been better than people give credit for but that argument rarely goes anywhere. People will always be divided on him.

Butler to Golden state I'd pretty good. Not sure about him and draymond meshing in terms of play styles and attitudes though

I think his point was Wiggins was clear number 1 above Steph.
I agree.

Jimmy seems like exactly the type who would appreciate a guy like Draymond and reciprocate that style of leadership. That infamous story of him beating the Minnesota starters with the bench guys claims he wasn’t even shooting. Just showing off how he could make those guys better. He beat the starters through defense, passing and motivation was his point.
Feels like a Draymond type thing to do

This is what they need to do.

refuses to play with the starters and beats them with training camp guys who aren’t even gonna make the team. Wins 18-6 not even shooting and goes crazy.
Feels like a Draymond guy to me.

Yeah but sometimes guys like that wanna be the only guy on the team doin it like that.
Im not saying these two in particular couldnt play together, but thats sometimes the concern. Obviously it's not something Green has ever had to worry about with the likes of Curry or Wiggins.
Reminds me of the classic Steven Adams story about Perk elbowing him hard in the chest in practice and yelling "I'm the only Silverback on this team!!!" :oldlol:
A lot of tough guys have a thing about being the only tough guy.

They don’t want Butthead. They’re just sabre rattling to push for Bron.
