I've been in the league 13 years. I don't get too high or too low or winning a game, especially in December. But this game in particular… and I don't know why, but I think it's an opportunity to play for something (the NBA Cup). Just having the opportunity to compete for something is always special for me. I have not been as hurt as I was losing that game, or am losing that game, since 2016 (NBA Finals) Game 7

As ridiculous as that claim is, the Warriors honestly never really had a truly painful playoff series loss since then. 2019 they were undermanned and outplayed, 2021 they got bounced in the play in, and the loss to the Lakers in 2023 was your standard competitive defeat. 2016 was a historic, all time loss, so of course he'd feel that way about it, especially since he would've been FMVP.

But claiming this loss is the worst since then is still ridiculous :lol

I think nobody would appreciate this afterthought at all had a different team won it during its inaugural season last year.
