Guy I saw on Facebook saying this should have been 5 fouls before the one they called.

And I don’t disagree. It’s a large reason(though not the only one) scores used to be in the 90s. But I see it as a feature while he sees it as a bug.

I don’t know why people want unbelievably talented/skilled and physically gifted players to be playing a game that is easier to dominate instead of harder.

If Jordan types couldn’t be held up and redirected I’d have seen more spectacular dunks I’m sure but I feel like I’d have been less amazed when one happened.

These guys are unbelievably good. They would be ok vs the kind of defense Payton, Harper, Starks, and so on would play. Thats not really any more physical than Pippen played Mark Jackson at times in 98 to destroy the pacers offense.

Its still entertaining.

I don’t think younger fans would be less entertained if teams were still allowed to do it. They just think they would be. These guys have handles and athleticism enough to make people pay for playing up close like that.

They would be fine.

Casual fans will typically only want to see offense, so I'm not surprised by that comment. I'm in full agreement with you, I wish they were allowed to play defense like that, it would make great performances all the more special.

Ditto the NFL, I wish they could go back to the defense they used to play pre 2010's, before having a 42-38 game be a weekly occurrence.

Out of interest, is there something especially wrong with 90-100 point games? I mean we don't need 70-64 Pistons/Pacers games from 2004, but 140-130 3point spamfests clearly has turned off fans, so what's the sweet spot?

I keep hearing the base skill level is higher today. Ok, well let's see it against actual defense then.

I remember a comment that was made during the halftime show during the OKC vs Roc game in the in season tourny. Dec 14 24'. It was 42-41. And the half time dude said, "Do you guys really want to go back to this?! Is this entertaining?"

It was a very defensive game. But the score reminded me how it was back in the early 00s. I don't think the majority wants to go back to that.

The game has been more physical this season, but perhaps they could change up the rules again. But I don't know if that is the only reason why the ratings are dropping. Availability maybe? Stars aren't being promoted more or current stars don't have the personality to draw interests to the casuals? It's a shame because I feel like we got the most talent in this era than we ever had. The parity is good, you have more upsets now, love the play ins.

With ratings down and everyone complaining I'm hoping they will allow them to play D to add some variety.
