Of course. Teams in at least basketball football and baseball don’t mind manipulating your output if it controls your earning potential. If it won’t cost them any significant team goals, they have no reason to let a young guy show out when they’re trying to re-sign him. And they track incentives closer than the players do.
Baseball is especially is notorious for that. They’re gonna **** you anyway they can within the rules.
