no one here will tell you that private prisons have always flourished under republican presidents, especially trump. same thing as biden is doing. both dems and republicans benefit from private prisons. why? because some of their big donors are the same ones receiving millions every year to run and build new for-profit prisons. it's extremely scummy and part of the reason why some many americans are imprisoned for things they should not be in prison for. you ever wonder why certain narratives are pushed so hard even thought they don't reflect reality? think immigration issue being brought up as if the country was actually being overran by illegal immigrants. well...in trump's first presidency, the doj awarded $110 million dollars to a company to build a private federal prison to hold federal detainees (immigrants)...then trump held a private prison annual conference at one of his golf courses. thats why he pushes illegal immigration so tenaciously. his friends are paying him millions on the backend so they can be awarded contracts. it's never actually been about protecting the border, it's about how much money to siphon from the federal government.
