Depends on who they play. A favorable match up gets them to the conference finals.

Best record but are we taking them over the Celtics? Doubtful. I would like the Knicks chances against them in a series as well. Garland + Mitchell having to play defense on players they cannot guard should be their downfall.
So I say ECSF but if the Celtics and Knicks end up in the same bracket, Cavs could make the ECFs

Can guard or are willing to guard? Theres a reason teams are better with mitchell off the floor

As far as Mobley takes them. IMO he is the key.

Watching the lakers cavs right now and I see why they have the best record. This doesn’t look like a fluke, Cavs are legitimately deep team that can throw any type of lineup at you. Whatever the lakers try to throw at them it seems they have a lineup designed to match them. Their defense is as solid as their offense. They could give Celtics some concerns.

They have two of the best big men in the league and some solid shooters and then they have Garland and Mitchell that can break down a defense.
What sets them apart is their size though. Jarred Allen is a monster.
They don't seem dominant though, more well balanced, so I will wait to see what happens in the playoffs. Getting a bit of OKC last year vibes here.

If they can maintain their respective seeds all the way to the end of the rs, they're going to end up on opposite sides of the brackets in the first round. With the cavs facing the team that wins the 8th seed while the Cs will face the one to end up as the 7th seed.

As a Laker fan it pained me to see jarrett outwork AD on multiple occasions. I didn’t realize he has a great big man IQ, controlling rebounds, saving out of bounds balls. I think that’s the one difference between last season and this season with the Cavs. They just seem smarter and more able to make the right reads and plays.

I'm a huge fan of Allen, and I think he's underrated. Always hustles on both ends of the court. He's the perfect complement to Mobley and Mitchell.

Kind of sad showing on the effort part from the Lakers multiple times. Cavs just played the Warriors last night whooping their ass, they flew from San Fran and this was a back-to-back while the Lakers have been resting since Saturday. Yet the Cavs came out with more energy minus Reeves.
Allen outworked Davis multiple times.
I think the biggest change on the court this season has been Mobley. He's way more aggressive. He's much more involved in the pick-and-rolls. He's an underrated ball handler for his size and he spreads the floor as a legit threat versus having two bigs out there that can shoot in previous seasons before he had that shot.

I also thought Lakers looked very good actually. AD still looks in peak form and Reaves showing up can definitely contribute. Lots of good role players, Melton, DFS, Ryu, the other white guy.
The issue is with Lebron though, still got some in the tank, but also their play slows down when is on the court, people standing around looking. I think it would be better if he played more against bench rotations this year.

This is spot on. This game glaringly highlighted Lebron being a net negative with his utter laziness on defense. AD needs some help on defense in the front court. Mobley and Allen were feasting while Lebron was on the floor. 20 and 27 points respectively.

These guys have a special chemistry. And they are all playing at the peak of their abilities- even role players. They are demolishing other quality teams. ATM only the Celtics and OKC have a real chance.
